This thermostat has easy to follow instructions and worked as soon as I was able to get it connected. I like having the capability of changing the temperature even when I am not at home.

Great thermostat for the home. Bought one for both the upstairs and downstairs. Easy to install and easy to also work via the Nest App. Also happens to be a great looking unit, we got the one with the white band.

I doubted my husband could install it but it really was easy. I love that I can change the temperature from my phone and not stop what I’m doing. I’m sure it has paid itself off by the energy saved when we are not home

I bought this unit to upgrade from Gen 2 because it can both make use of the sensors and it has dual-band WiFi for a stronger signal. It was very easy to install, it looks great, and it’s very intuitive to use, either on the wall, with your phone, or via a voice assistant. I’ll ding it a little bit because the sensor schedule—that is, when the device can be told to use which sensor—can’t be customized. You have 4 pre-set blocks to choose from, and that’s it. But then the trouble started. First I got a dreaded W5 error, meaning it’s WiFi radio was no longer working. I contacted Google for a replacement, which arrived promptly… but it kept getting caught in a boot loop and I couldn’t set it up. A second replacement arrived and wouldn’t correctly read my (very straightforward!) wiring, despite the fact that the one with the W5 error still could. The third replacement had the same issue, at which point I was advised to spend $130 to have a technician inspect my system to verify it was in fact the thermostat that wasn’t working. So after 6 total hours on the phone with customer support and HVAC technicians, and 3 replacement thermostats, I finally got my fourth one: an ecobee. I had it on and functioning in 20 minutes. My experience is probably very far outside the norm. I most likely just had a run of bad luck; I know when I see reviews like this for something I have maybe already talked myself into, I think, “ah but that’s just one guy; he’s unlucky or he did something wrong; that won’t happen to me.” And it probably won’t! But given the sheer number of issues I encountered—from failing components to annoying limitations to inept and sometimes contradictory customer support (who, at the end of the day, are call-center employees and decidedly *not* HVAC technicians)—I’d urge you to strongly consider other smart thermostats. This one is just not worth the risk or the headaches.

Thing is pretty legit. Way better than our old one. Love the schedule and how it gets smarter every day learning our home/away habits.

If you're reading this review then you already know what it does. It is fairly easy to setup for anyone who can turn off a breaker switch and use a screwdriver. The app is easy to understand and nest works great with Google assistant

Super easy to install yourself, super easy to connect to Wi-Fi. The app works well and it really does learn your habits and helps save money. There's all kinds of incentives and programs to register for to get money back. This pays for itself easily.

As you adjust the temp to your liking, it memorizes and adjusts to those habits. If you want to monitor and / or change the temp in your home, you can use your smart phone to operate it from anywhere any time. If your energy company cooperates, you can get the unit for nearly free.

Love this thermostat. It was relatively easy to install. Had to call customer service due to my wiring being a little dated. Customer service was great and I have no issues. The app is easy to use and I can now change temperature in my house without even having to be in it.

Easy to use and very elegant very useful can't go wrong with this one

We bought this to replace a Honeywell smart thermostat that was not very smart.. The Nest is far easier to set up than other smart thermostats and functions great. We immediately saw a daily decrease in energy usage.

I compared several smart thermostats and decided on this one. We bought the black mirror design. Looks great on our wall. Very easy to install and connect. Sleek design. Glad we decided on this smart thermostat. 5 stars!

Simple to install and use - great display with easy mobile access through internet connection. The only downside is the lack of an "away" or "hold" feature that is available in other Nest models. We primarily chose this as it was compatible with an older furnace that newer model Nests (and other smart thermostats) would not work with.

Great simple design. Installation instructions were very easy to follow for even the most inexperienced of people. Love the versatility and access from the app. Easy scheduled programming or self-learning features.

We got this on Black Friday and it has exceeded our expectations. Both simple to install and simple to set up, knowing we have full control even when we're away from the house is great. Plus, nothing beats not having to get out from beneath the covers to turn up the heat.

Great device that helps remember the temperature preferences. I love that it turns itself off when we step out of the house. For SCE (So cal) customers, now, rebate pretty much helps pay for the device. Very easy to install too! Last but not the least, it looks very modern!

Installation was made super-easy with video and included tools (although it seemed wasteful to include a tool in each package for people like me who bought multiple units but only needed one tool). Set up was also easy, and the Nests look fantastic and work ok overall (more on where they fall short below). Small issue is the app (for remote control) could be more intuitive. Larger issue is that when I set all thermostats to "Away" (with a single tap in the app, which is great) they do not stay set to away for some reason... in four days of being away on vacation, I've gone into the app six time to confirm that the thermostats were still set to Away, and four times they were back on their regular schedule heating the house. So I had to again manually set to Away 4 times. Not only is this gitch annoying (because part of the proposition of having these is peace of mind, not having to think about them or do things manually) but they are not saving me money if they're running the heat to the same temps as if we were home. My old programmable were a pain to manually set when we were going on vacation (and then to reset to regular programs when we got home) but at least they worked properly. Nests are cool, but so far they have not been as set-it-and-forget-it as I was led to believe.

Love this product. Works on my system without a c-wire. Easy install and setup. Scheduling takes a little getting used to. Make sure you check for rebates or instant credits from your service provider!

I like the ability to remotely turn on your thermostat. Programming is much easier than standard thermostats.

I can't express how much I love this thing, it looks great and the ability to monitor daily usage, the smart Away from home settings, and being able to set the temperature before I get home. Would recommend a thousand times. Install is simple.
