Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you aren't familiar with this thermostat, there are two things you should know: 1) it is a Google product 2) efficiency maximization is part of its design. So, for whatever that's worth to you, now you know! I've been using it for only two weeks, and my main frustration is that I want the house cooler (Texas summer) but it has many times let the dang place warm up at the worst time, late afternoon, when letting up the gas for just twenty minutes can send the temperature climbing fast and can't recover til long after dark. Even though its dialed down. In the mean time I have learned how to turn off those features, but still have to crank it to 50 sometimes when it shows the temp 5+ degrees warmer than where it's set and it has stopped running. The other thing that it does which is rather impressive, is that it operates the condensor, the exchange, and the blower independently, thus coaxing the system to cool FAR BETTER than a basic on/off thermostat. It can really get this place chilly. And probably at a fraction the energy use. So, a mixed review - would be nice if simply did what it was asked, but it is impressive how it can really drive the system, probably saving money in the process. I would conditionally recommend it.

Just followed step by step, my son & I installed the new thermostat, did light touch up paint where the old thermo was before the new one went in. And everything is just fine, and I'm not an A/C man nor an electrician.. Got the Nest app on our phones an set everything. We will see in time IF it save us any $$.

Being able to change the temp anywhere you are, or programming it from you cell. What a simple piece of technology. Get this you won’t regret it.

I bought a second Nest for the upstairs bedroom.

It learns your schedule and repeats it for you. However, you may have to make adjustments on the weekend. Also, it seems to take a little long to get up to temperature. We've had it less than a month so we don't really have a feel on energy savings if present.

Provides options for installing on a plate or simply as the dial. Super easy to set up on WiFi and to actually use. Even my wife loves it.

Price was ok, not a good deal. However, once in a while, it would disconnect from Wi-Fi though the Wi-Fi strength was excellent. Another con is that the battery doesn't last long if unplugged and that it uses a micro USB port.

I've read online in different forums about other people experiencing the same problem as me, almost as if this unit fries the connector which tells your ac to turn on/off. My power bill was double the usual this month as I discovered this issue. Will be troubleshooting with Nest. Recommend professional install...

It claims to be smart and can adjust the temperature in the room, however, I always feel the temperature to be lower than I wanted, although I adjust manually every day, it still sets the temperature low.

We understand your concern about the lower temperature reading, and the first thing we recommend is to start by checking the location of the thermostat, as it may impact the accurate temperature reading. Here are a couple of troubleshooting steps to help isolate the issue further, as well as identifying that the thermostat is not impacted by external factors:
- Restart the thermostat by pressing the display until it shows a black screen and wait until it's back up and running. A restart should be sufficient to re-calibrate them and show an accurate value.
- Check if the Sunblock feature is on or off. Open Nest App > Select the thermostat > Tap Settings > Look for Nest Sense > Turn off/on Sunblock
- Nest Thermostats in the U.S. and Canada are typically installed on a wall. Check for proximity of the thermostat to: air vents / electrical outlets / appliances / plumbing (hot water pipes) / warm air in the wall behind the thermostat. This may also affect the reading for the temperature.
- Some wireless access points cause the Nest Learning Thermostat’s wifi chip to overheat, which affects the thermostat’s detected ambient temperature. We suggest disconnecting the network for 24 hours, and monitoring the temperature.
Different brands of thermostats and thermometers have different ways of measuring and reading the ambient temperature. Normally, a temperature difference of 1-2°F can be negligible, but if it is greater than that, and should the steps we highlighted not identify the issue, then we may need to have a look at what may be causing it and work on improving your experience. I can ask Alexa what the temp is inside the house. You can also set he thermostat schedule to keep it warmer when not home.

I have this at home and my bill hasn't been over $150. You can schedule the temperatures and I'll learn them and you will no longer have to schedule.

Easy setup, easy to configure.

It's a great product, super easy to install, and extremely easy to use and program. I haven't even had to physically touch a thermostat in two months now. It's awesome.
