Quite often we would forget to set the thermostats in our home before leaving. This device is the perfect solution! It also helps us save energy by actively managing the temperature in our homes. It claims to be smart and can adjust the temperature in the room, however, I always feel the temperature to be lower than I wanted, although I adjust manually every day, it still sets the temperature low.

We understand your concern about the lower temperature reading, and the first thing we recommend is to start by checking the location of the thermostat, as it may impact the accurate temperature reading. Here are a couple of troubleshooting steps to help isolate the issue further, as well as identifying that the thermostat is not impacted by external factors:
- Restart the thermostat by pressing the display until it shows a black screen and wait until it's back up and running. A restart should be sufficient to re-calibrate them and show an accurate value.
- Check if the Sunblock feature is on or off. Open Nest App > Select the thermostat > Tap Settings > Look for Nest Sense > Turn off/on Sunblock
- Nest Thermostats in the U.S. and Canada are typically installed on a wall. Check for proximity of the thermostat to: air vents / electrical outlets / appliances / plumbing (hot water pipes) / warm air in the wall behind the thermostat. This may also affect the reading for the temperature.
- Some wireless access points cause the Nest Learning Thermostat’s wifi chip to overheat, which affects the thermostat’s detected ambient temperature. We suggest disconnecting the network for 24 hours, and monitoring the temperature.
Different brands of thermostats and thermometers have different ways of measuring and reading the ambient temperature. Normally, a temperature difference of 1-2°F can be negligible, but if it is greater than that, and should the steps we highlighted not identify the issue, then we may need to have a look at what may be causing it and work on improving your experience. The house will heat or cool on its own to maintain optimum temperature. This has been especially useful during the springtime when temperatures are pretty erratic. In turn, my bills have decreased.

It for sure could use a few more features though. It has the ability to notify you if your house gets above or below a certain temperature but it’s a fixed temperature. You should be able to set it to whatever temperature you’d like for it to notify you.

I purchased for a 2 bedroom apartment, and while it was a little difficult for me to use (since Im not tech savvy), it seems really user friendly and have heard lots of good things about it. Make sure to get hvac tech to install.

The Nest looks more sleek and modern as opposed to using the Honeywell thermostat. It’s nice using the phone app to get the ac running.
