Posted .Hey Vertrauensmann, thanks for the feedback you provided about the Nest Learning Thermostat, and we’re glad that you find it intuitive, and that it works well in the app. We’re sorry to hear of your experience with inability to override it manually.
Your thermostat must be set to Eco, Heat, Cool, or Heat • Cool mode to change its temperature. To change the mode, tap Temperature mode Heat Cool mode and select the one you want. From here, you can manually adjust the temperature two different ways in the app:
- Tap and drag the dial clockwise or counter-clockwise to increase or decrease the temperature
- Tap + or – to increase or decrease the temperature 1° at a time.If your thermostat has a temperature schedule, the temperature will change for the upcoming temperature in the schedule.

Or you can manually change the temperature using the thermostat display. When the thermostat is on and shows the temperature screen, turn the ring clockwise and counterclockwise to increase or decrease the temperature.
