Once I got everything hooked up, it took a little time to figure everything out, but now it's working without a hitch. One issue was that we did not have a common wire on the old, cheap thermostat. When it is very cold out, the voltage doesn't seem to pick up on the wiring setup. I'm planning to eventually have a common wire run so that the power voltage is constant and that SHOULD fix the issue. Otherwise, I love being able to make adjustments from my phone, whether away from home or even from my bed without getting up.

Wasn't difficult to setup via the Nest app and add additional temperature sensors. Not able to compare to other smart thermostats as this is the first we've had. Seems pretty great so far.

It is more sensitive to movement around the device. Well worth the money. I have 2nd Gen for upstairs, but 3rd Gen on main floor - well worth the upgrade.

I bought 2 one for the downstairs and one for the upstairs same issue with both. So frustrating. Can never connect when away form home. I will be replacing maybe try the ecobee

Took my husband 6 hours and he’s usually a very handy guy. The NEST blew a fusz in the house too. After a lot of frustration, we now like it and it seems to have lowered our first monthly bill.

But it had two major flaws: - it didn't produce notifications of errors (one of my primary reasons for purchasing) - doesn't work well with dual transformer systems (i have radiant heat and central air) The core for problem 2 seems to be the fancy adaptive power steaing the nest uses. It kept detecting overcurrent issues and disabling itself (when it's -10 outside). It's not the HVAC system, which works just fine. But the nest disabled itself, and did not send me email or push notifications. My only notice was that the house got cold! Spent hours on forums seeing other dual transformer users have similar issues. Too smart for it's own good?

We recommend checking if the HVAC monitoring feature is enabled on your Nest Learning Thermostat. Keep in mind that HVAC monitoring is currently available for forced air HVAC systems, which use vents to move air through your house. Radiant systems, which have radiator or in-floor heating, are not eligible for HVAC monitoring as of this time.
HVAC monitoring is also currently available in the US and parts of Canada. You can manage HVAC monitoring settings with the Home app:
- Open the Home app > and then tap Settings .
- Under “Features,” tap Notifications and then Thermostat and then HVAC monitoring and then select your preferred settings.
Critical alerts feature also let you know about important events, like alert you about the Safety temperature feature that can help ensure that your pipes don't freeze or that your home doesn't become extremely hot even when your thermostat is set to Off or Eco Temperatures. To receive critical alerts from Google Nest, you'll need to turn them on both in General notifications in the Home app and in your phone's settings. To set up critical alerts:
- Open the Home app > tap Settings > Notifications > General notifications.
- Turn on critical alerts.
- Check for a banner at the top of the screen.
a. If there's a banner that says "Critical alerts are turned off in this device's settings", tap Turn on critical alerts, then follow the steps to complete setup in your phone's settings.
b. If there's no banner, you're all done.

I have a 3 floors town house and 2 thermostats (lower and upper levels). The thermostats talk to each other stabilizing the temperature. Also the auto-away function saves so much energy.

Keeps the bill low and house comfortable. Easy to make adjustments from the home. You can customize it to whatever schedule you deem fit. Excellent and must have purchase.
