Love the Nest but had issues installing because I had to figure out how to power the Nest since our house didn’t have a dedicated constant power wire. We just ran a new wire which wasn’t too bad and all is good now! I just wasn’t expecting the additional work when I purchased one super cold winter night.

I don’t remember disliking any piece of technology quite as much as these thermostats. When I bought them, I was really excited for their potential. I mean, they are beautiful. But like a vapid trophy spouse, they serve no real purpose and only serve to accelerate my search for a replacement. I actually despise these things with the whole of my being. First - all of the the hype is entirely unwarranted. I don’t see any real benefit from the “smart” or “learning” features of this thermostat. In fact, the complexity only creates issues. Learning? Hah, yeah right. One year in, and i am still adjusting the temp manually all the time. Could I program it? Sure but my old ones were 1/10th of the price and did the same thing. Old school programmables are light years better. Second - connectivity and power issues CONSTANTLY plague my two units. I have two zones, one which is brand new construction. Even with a 24V C wire, the unit constantly disconnects from the wifi and eventually drains. Tomorrow, I will be removing these units and reinstalling my $40 programmables. Then I will gift the Nests to the person who I truly hate most in life, so they can live a frustrating and anxious life in a poorly heated home. It’s a $300 glitter bomb. Stay far, far away from these things and save yourself time, money, and frustration.

It makes it sound like its easy and works everywhere. It doesn't the support line was awful and took over 60 min to discover they don't know what they are doing. They ended up trying ot sell me an install service instead of asking a ten second question. In the end I returned it. Wouldn't recommend until you are certain it will work for you.

the worst mistake I ever made. I want to return 2 of these google nests that I purchased . No one answers the phone of course so I can get directions how to return. They do not work. Keeps freezing up and than shuts off

I installed this in my new house having used it before. set up was easy. I love the control it gives via the app.

I've wanted a Nest for years now, but finally own my own home to put it in. Having never installed a thermostat before, I did exactly what you shouldn't do...I disconnected all of the wires before noting their location on the old thermostat. In spite of this critical error, using the Nest instructions, the basic configuration seemed consistent with my wiring, and I connected everything, put on the faceplace and fired it up. The Nest walks you through all of the steps you need to be more efficient. It notes weather patterns in your area, it senses the type of system you have, it configures home and away times. It turns out that I had wired my system for a heat pump, something I do not have. It noticed this right away, and after one more switch-off of the breaker, I had all of the wires in the right place. Since having the Nest, I've noticed that the home temperature is very consistent. The Airwave (cooling function shutoff) feature is very effective and the house is always within our specifications. I've only turned the dial on the Nest once in the past week since it was installed. And of course, I changed the temperature up and down on my mobile phone, just for fun. We haven't gotten into heat season yet, but I have a feeling with the up and down temperatures here in Colorado, that the nest is really going to help. No more switching back and forth from hot to cool throughout the day. Just set it, and let the temperature determine the function. Oh, and it looks just as awesome as I predicted it would on the wall. We used the mounting plate to cover up the previous thermostat holes. I've seen others at friends houses that did not have such plates (Gen 2), and the holes, no matter how well you patch, were still obvious.

The best feature is after a few days the Nest has learned my habits and now automatically adjusts the temperature. I like it a few degrees cooler when sleeping and now the Nest automatically does that.

I was able to purchase the Nest thermostat on sale at Best Buy and very happy with it overall.

Smart thermostat is the way to go, make sure your current furnace is compatible before buying.

this was the first smart item I got for my home. Nest CS was on point they were on the phone for me for a long period of time and even waited till I finished installing the thermostat.

We could not get it to work at our house. Unsure if it was a bad one.

This product was very easy to install and works great.

This is a great product, allows me to control the thermostat from anywhere and be able to see how long it will take to either cool or warm the house based on the changes i am making the setting.

Love the integration between my Nest Thermostat and my Google Home. I haven't had the Thermostat installed long enough to realize any energy savings, but it was easy to install and simple to setup.

mostly wanted wifi thermostat to adjust temperature when we are out of town - want to come back to a warm house. So far it takes too long for the temperature to heat up to my comfort setting - I have called customer service and there suggestions haven't changed things. I turned off the auto schedule setting because I was cold all the time. I called nest and they told me to turn off eco setting. Expensive thermostat and so far I'm only using the programable setting and some mornings it is not at the desired temperature when I get up. Customer service said maybe it's because of the cold weather (high 20s) well I live in northern Michigan. What happens when it's below zero? I plan to call customer service again - at one point they said I may need the c- wire installed. If that's the case I will return it - not worth any additional cost - I only have a two wire system. I will update review if things get better

Setup was a pain but great item once setup is complete

I forgot I can set the temperature while I’m on my way home but I forget how smart it is I end up forgetting how useful it is but then I put the schedule so it’s warm before I get home

I purchased the nest learning thermostat and had an electrician come to my house. The electrician was installing the thermostats but after the old ones were taken down and one nest was installed we learned that they won't work with my heating and cooling system.
