Difficult to program
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would not recommend Nest thermostat. I found it clumsy to program. Not capable of sending alerts of any kind. Limited capabilities. I will return mine if possible and get a Honeywell to pair up with a Smart Things hub. All types of alerts are available... and can be programmed easily.

Good - Battery Annoying
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a learning thermostat, the Nest is a great option. It does learn and help you with a variety of schedules. Being able to remotely control the settings help when you forget to reduce your bill when you go on vacation! However, the battery is a PAIN. If you have a C wire, you're fine. If you do not, you likely will not get enough power to your Nest from time to time. GOOGLE - PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL TECH ADD A BATTERY LIFE INDICATOR EVEN WHEN ONLINE. USB charging is an option, but it will not run your heating/cooling while charging unless you have a really interesting setup to force it to. Going to look into the new C Wire "adapter" to see if that helps. NOTE FOR NORTHERNERS - you will have to remove your AC wire for Nest to work below 0 as AC units typically disable themselves at these crazy temps.

Posted .Hi Beebs, thanks for posting your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you’re having battery issues with your Nest Learning Thermostat.
If you repeatedly get low battery messages from your thermostat, or if there’s another power-related message, you may need to check the C wire connection or install a C wire to provide consistent power to your thermostat and prevent the backup batteries from draining. Some systems, including heating-only, cooling-only, zone-controlled, and heat pump systems, require a C wire or the Nest Power Connector. Damages systems
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nest thermostats cycle the AC to get its power. This results in the AC compressor to come on every 5 minutes or so. This will result in excessive wear and tear on the system. Nest needs to come up with a better way to get its power.

Works exactly as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is not much I can write that has not been already said. I purchased Nest to replace what I thought was a failed thermostat and it turned out to be something else wrong, but we kept the Nest anyway because it really changed how we manage temperature in our house. Programming the 10 year old "smart" Honeywell thermostat required some sort of college degree I didn't possess so we were fiddling with it daily. Along comes Nest and managing temperatures and times is a breeze. Install took less than 10 minutes. We looked at Nest daily for the first week and now, 2 months later, we haven't looked at it in probably 4 or 5 weeks: it just works. I can think of no better accolade than "it just works".

Posted .Hi Hoosier, thanks for posting your feedback on Nest Learning Thermostat, and we're sorry to hear that it's an unpleasant experience for you.
Nest thermostat changes its temperature automatically due to some factors like schedule, learned habits (auto schedule), and Home/Away Assist which makes your thermostat go to ECO mode. When you set your thermostat to Eco Temperature manually, it will hold the temperature until you change it, and your thermostat will immediately switch. Your thermostat and system behaviors are different when you manually switch to Eco Temperatures compared to when it’s automatically set.
