    Don’t buy this

Your better off with a standard thermostat. This stupid thing makes my house too cold or too hot. I set the heating to 67 degrees, it won’t turn on until 65 degrees (its freaking cold) then when it finally turns on it heats to 69 degrees (Waaay too freaking hot to sleep it wakes us up) so I’m constantly turning the temperature up and down when it’s supposed to be doing it for you. It sucks dont buy it, I’ve had this too long to return it. Now I’m stuck with this expensive p0s thermostat.

    Don’t bother

Was working fine for 5 months then suddenly disconnected from the internet. It would not reconnect and couldn’t find any wifi networks and just continued to search over and over again. Contacted Google and the only option for a replacement under warranty is to have them put a $250 hold on your account until they receive the faulty unit. Horrible customer service.

Auto Learning Feature is Detrimental to Health

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Auto Learning feature is terrible with this thermostat. Frequently when I set my heat to 70 in the house I would walk by later in the day to find that it reset itself to 60 or lower. Final straw was when I set the heat to 72 overnight and woke up to the house being 60 degrees. My four month old daughter was shivering in her crib and my wife and I came down with a minor cold waking up to that in the middle of winter in New Jersey. Do not buy this product. Ever.

Do NOT buy this Google Nest! It does not work. It is still under warranty and Google wants us to pay $300 to replace it. They don’t stand behind the product.

    Not a "smart" device

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Does not actually use occupancy sensor. Home walking past 10times/hour, keeps turning the A/C off(or higher temp to not run) Vacation for a weekend, A/C keepin the empty house nice and cold. It is a wifi, so you can turn it on/off with your phone. It is NOT "smart" or "learning.

This thermostat cost me more money than what its worth, the techies don't have a clue what HVAC is or means. This thermostat is made to shut down the compressor with out your control, which means your house will get cold.

    Reboxed, missing base

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I ordered the nest online and got a unit which, after comparing it with the one I exchanged it for, had obviously been reboxed and was missing the base. The items were arranged the wrong way and seals were missing. As good as the products seems to be from the reviews, I'm leaving a one star for selling a reboxed unit missing a part as new.

This does not work! I'd set the temp to 76 and the house would get up to 84 degrees! Hired a heating a cooling professional whom charged $125 to come check my AC unit and he said everything was working okay. Today I finally returned it after my bill doubled yet my house was so hot and humid this past month from the darn thing never working. Don't buy this!

    Warning! No user manual available!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Warning! The thermostat does not come with a user manual and Nest does not have one available for download. Instead they expect you to wade through numerous support pages on their web site and go back and forth between multiple products until you find what you want. If you are old school and want a manual, then this product is NOT for you.

It has a mind of its own

We have two homes and bought one for each home. Unfortunately the thermostats randomly decide we are home when we aren't and that we aren't home when we are. It's been virtually impossible to correct this issue and as a result we are heating when we don't want to and cold when we want to be warm. The programming needs a major overhaul.

    Years of headaches

Everything was good for a month, then it refused to connect to WiFi, refused to keep a normal temperature through the night. This has been nothing but aggravation every night and day since we bought it basically. Converted to a $30 thermostat after two years of nest and couldn’t be happier

Piece of junk. Stay away from it. 1 month after installing it stopped connecting with my WiFi. I tried everything and it did not work. Zero support from google and as a matter of fact don’t buy anything from google. I disconnected it and threw it away. Money down the drain.

They turned the smart thermostat into a dumb one

It used to be good. Now Google broke its automation capabilities and pulled off apple watch app in their attempt to force everybody into their narrow vision. What good is a smart thermostat if you can't integrate it in your smart home automation?

I own gen 2 of this model. Worked great for 3 years now it changes temperature on its own. Read the problems at Nest’s own website. https://www.nest-community.com/s/question/0D51W00005D3IAqSAN/thermostat-changing-itself-after-manual-override

    Does not function properly

Inaccurate temperature readings. To set the temperature to 70 in the house you need to set the nest to 76. Waste of money.

Hi MikoKL, we're sorry you encountered inaccurate temperature readings with Nest Learning Thermostat. Here are a couple of troubleshooting steps to help isolate the issue further, as well as identifying that the thermostat is not impacted by external factors:
      - Restart the thermostat by pressing the display until it shows a black screen and wait until it's back up and running. A restart should be sufficient to re-calibrate them and show an accurate value.
      - Check if the Sunblock feature is on or off. Open Nest App > Select the thermostat > Tap Settings > Look for Nest Sense > Turn off/on Sunblock
      - Nest Thermostats in the U.S. and Canada are typically installed on a wall. Check for proximity of the thermostat to: air vents / electrical outlets / appliances / plumbing (hot water pipes) / warm air in the wall behind the thermostat. This may also affect the reading for the temperature.
      - Some wireless access points cause the Nest Learning Thermostat’s wifi chip to overheat, which affects the thermostat’s detected ambient temperature. We suggest disconnecting the network for 24 hours, and monitoring the temperature.

If none of the steps prove to be helpful, then we may need to have a look at what may be causing it and work on improving your experience. Please feel free to reach out to us by visiting this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hey there, OGDN. Thanks for giving us time to share your feedback about the Nest Learning Thermostat. It’s unfortunate to hear your experience is less than ideal. We can imagine the inconvenience it can cause not having the temperature you want.

With the Auto-Schedule feature on, the Nest Learning Thermostat can learn your daily routine and automatically create a temperature schedule for you. If you'd prefer to disable learning and have your thermostat follow a fixed temperature schedule, you can turn off Auto-Schedule. That way, the schedule won't change unless you make manual changes to it. If the Nest thermostat is offline you won’t be able to make any schedule changes. However, it will still honor the existing scheduled setpoints. And if you ever turn the ring to select a new temperature, your thermostat will only hold that temperature until the next scheduled change. It won't add your new preference to the Schedule, even if you select the new temperature repeatedly. You can always turn Auto-Schedule back on if you ever want your thermostat to start learning your temperature preferences again and make adjustments to the schedule automatically.

We care about your experience. You may get in touch with us anytime here if additional help is needed: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest
