    We realized after purchasing the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Generation) that we did not need a thermostat to learn about our temperature preferences. Mainly what we wanted in a WiFi thermostat was the ability to monitor our home’s temperature when we’re not at home and control the thermostat remotely - like from an upstairs bedroom or when traveling. We found that we could accomplish everything we needed a thermostat to do with a much less expensive device. So, we bought a Honeywell 7-day programmable WIFi thermostat for about one-third the cost of this Nest product.
