I was looking for ways to make my home more efficient, especially since I'm not there majority of the day. This thermostat does exactly what it says it does, learns when you're there and not there and makes recommendations on heating and cooling. I have a noticed a savings in my energy bill. Can't wait to see how well it continues to be more efficient.

Lots of flexibility. I'll never touch the thermostat again. Love the app! It doesn't "wake up" from far away but that might be bc it's in a hall.

I have installed several NEST Learning Thermostats. I started with my house and then at my three daughters. Installation is extremely simple. Literally, any person can do it. The software is simple, yet powerful. NEST support is great. They can help you in everything. Excellent as a gift to family members and friends.

I like that is has memory and that it keeps track of the weekly temperature. I like that I can adjust the temperature from my phone.

I have tell you that upgrading from 2nd generation to 3rd generation is worth it in my opinion. The view across the room is a big asset. I did not think it was a big deal at first but now it really helps my old eyes! Just be aware that you will need to used the new baseplate as the 3rd generation has changed the size of it and is not backward compatible.

This comes with a 2 year warranty (unless changed now). My thermostat decided to not turn on the AC anymore or for a brief 20 seconds. The thermostat would then reboot every 1-2 minutes. Unable to hold a charge from its base. I had an HVAC friend come out and explained what the issue is and it needs to be replaced. Google will only accept an invoice with a full written explanation of what is wrong with the device before returning it, or reinstall it to 'troubleshoot' with them. I know the problem, I don't want to reinstall something that won't work. For safety reasons I would suggest the same for you. They would be unable to diagnose anything else even if it were reinstalled. Honeywell was my next purchase since I had no working thermostat. So having to pay for another thermostat while trying to get this resolved makes this even more of a headache. So fair warning to you all. If you want 4 hours with their tech support that still won't fix the situation (awaiting a call back in 24 hours) and their senior tech support person said they will tell me the same thing she is that they won't help me. Save the hassle, get a Honeywell or some other brand that will actually back their products.

This thermostat is easy to set up and easy to use. I was worried at first that it did not have the ability to set programs but it has not been an issue.
