We love these!!! We use them for our houses, great and easy to use.

Purchased to keep my older mother safe. we found out that her smoke detector was not working when I was down visiting... I have these in my home and love them... immediately I went and purchased one for her house. I have access to it via the app and get notifications when it goes off.. usually she sends me a text right away saying she is just cooking.

You should not be trusting your life to outdated, old smoke detectors. I have four of these in my home, the networking was smooth, and each one has an announcement that tells you where the alarm is coming from. This is one of those rare examples of good tech.

Hope I never need it, but it looks great and is so much easier to deal with than a traditional smoke detector.

The Nest Protect is one of the most expensive, but also one of the most comprehensive, of the smart smoke detectors we've tested. Not only does it pick up several types of fires, as well as carbon monoxide, but it also does the best job at alerting you of the danger. And, it works with a wide range of smart-home products. So, for example, you can set your Philips Hue lights to turn on automatically when the Nest Protect goes off.

This is my 4th Nest Protect. They are just so solid even at the higher price point it's worth it. Kept getting false positives with a different brand. Peace of mind when not at home that there is no smoke or carbon monoxide. Peace of mind that they are working accurately. Peace of mind that the nest application will tell you if a unit is having an issue. The "HeadsUp" early warning that levels are rising BEFORE the alarms go off is a great feature (although I haven't used it yet.) Only negative I can think of - outside of price - wish it would report back the temperature to the Nest app. Would be great to see the temp in each room.

After installing my first Nest Protect, I followed that up with an encore x 2. I replaced all 3 wired smoke detectors with this product. I have been quite pleased with everything about them. A great product -- only rated 4 stars (vs. 5) since only had about a month so far.
