Time will tell how long the batteries last but I am thrilled it's not hard wired. Works with google home (of course) which is nice too.

Love NEST Protect

I have a 15 year old son that was making popcorn in the microwave while he was on his PS4. I was out shopping and I get a text message warning me there is possible smoke in the kitchen before my son at the house even realizes that there is smoke in the kitchen. I have 3 NEST protects in the house now and I am slowly buying more fore each room. They are all synced together and synced to my phone. Can't beat it!!!!!

Good to Great?

I would like future versions to be able to do more at this price-point. Maybe integrate humidity, temperature, and other air-quality sensors to make it a more comprehensive monitor.
