Looks really nice compared to the old unit. Works well, generally. Having a voice on the unit makes it pleasant. I did have 1 instance of connectivity issues, but a reboot of the system cleared it up and it's been fine since.

Perfect upgrade to keep pace with home automation. Does what it says... says what it does.

Pretty cool. Easy to install and these alarms a very reliable once installed. Also, they have a light feature to soft light when dark and movement is detected, which works great for stairs.

This is absolutely amazing when it comes to protecting your family and pets!

I really wanted to like this product. I have a ring system installed and also look to get the nest thermostat. However, it’s suppose to work with ring (which it doesn’t) and it won’t allow me to install without the nest thermostat hooked up in my home. Nowhere on the box, or online does it say you need one to make this work. I may be bringing it back. Very upsetting since ring doesn’t have a smoke/ carbon detector and only a sensor for one.

It works great! So good it picks up my husband's vape from the next room.

If, like my household, every single smoke alarm is already beyond their 10 year lifespan, you'll definitely have to replace them (as your budget can afford) since they're only able to function properly in that 10 year span from their manufacturing. This unit I initially had delivered, I had to go exchange because someone thought it was probably a good laugh to package the wired model inside the battery model's box. You're a weirdo, whoever you are. Cons: 1. Setup requires 2.4 GHz network, it HATES WEP and anything less than WPA. (There are also a few routers it does not work with.) It won't tell you this outright, and neither will their website. Only after a lot of digging did I find out all of the specifics. 2. The MAC address is only listed inside the Nest app, which is only accessible AFTER you successfully set it up. You cannot use a MAC Address whitelist beforehand. Meaning you'll have to turn it off to add another Nest product each time (perhaps?) Pros: 1. It's a smoke & monoxide alarm. Testing the unit is straight-forward: press the button in the middle, press again after the prompt, it's a pretty loud alarm, it'll get the job done. I believe it has two alarms, one for smoke and one for monoxide. 2. features a monthly self test 3. A path-light feature where the unit uses it's microphone to detect movement, and dimly illuminates its LED ring lights, just enough so you can see where you're going to at night, good for a staircase or a dark hall(you can toggle this on or off in the app). 4. The ability to chain together multiple units for a network of coverage. Quicker setup of additional new units because they'll tall to each other and copy over network settings. Definitely going to pick up another pair of these next paycheck.

Nest protect is the most efficient smoke detector in the world.

Integrates easily with Nest thermostat and Hue bulbs. Path light feature is a bonus.

Nest makes great, smart and easy products. The protect is pretty straight forward. It's a connected smoke and co alarm. Easy to set up. I dig the "night light" when you pass by it if it's dark enough. Is it worth $100 to you though?
