Nest protect have a manufacturer date and an expiration date of 10 years from manufacture. The product I received as “new” is in fact 8 months old. This cuts the product lifespan by nearly one year or 10%. If you are shipping less than new products then be truthful and disclose this in the product description.

We bought two sets of these Nest - Protect 2nd Generation (Battery) Smart Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Alarm (3-Pack) - White, so we have a total of six of these units. These supplement detectors we already had. If any one if these detector/alarms detects smoke or carbon monoxide, all six of them sound the alarm and announce the location of which detector detected the smoke or carbon monoxide. By installing these units on all three levels of our home, we feel confident we will get quicker notification in an emergency.

As the recommended life of the product is tied to the date of manufacture, there is always going to be some period of time that passes before the customer is able to use the device. This is true of any Smoke and CO Alarm product and cannot be avoided. In particular, we expect our resellers to have good stock rotation policies that ensure stock isn't unnecessarily sitting on shelves losing time.

Doesn't integrate with Alarm System
