When choosing a place for installation keep in mind the light comes on with any movement so make sure it doesn't pick up any movement in the bed...like when you roll over. That happened to me and it kept waking me up. Had to move it. Otherwise, it's great.

If your looking for comfort this is definitely worth the purchase.

Great for feeling at ease

These detectors are great especially because they communicate with each other and self test monthly. You can select when they test. The fact they will alert you when it senses smoke on your mobile with the app is nice.

The Safety Checkup feature on Nest Protect, is an easy way to verify that its sensors, power, Wi-Fi connection, speaker, horn, and light ring are working. You can run a Safety Checkup with the Nest app for a 2nd generation Nest Protect, or press the Nest button on any Nest Protect.
The National Fire Protection Association and other fire safety experts recommend that you manually test your Nest Protect at least once a month. Safety Checkup helps you easily run a test to confirm that all your Nest Protects are working properly. It will also help you and your family become familiar with Nest Protect's sounds and lights.
Nest Protect also monitors itself automatically, with Self Test and Sound Check. That way, you know it's working in between each month's Safety Checkup.

If you have the nest thermostat plus this product and have smoke in your house it will shut the heat and air conditioner off then tell you there smoke in the house.

After several months, the unit chirps every 60 seconds. We have gone so far as to wipe it to factory settings, install new Energizer Lithium batteries and reconfigure. This is the second unit which he have had this experience. If we didn't already have Nest thermostats installed, I might have given up. There is nothing on the www which helps

Although it's not impossible to fix I do suggest you set all install locations at the same time before you mount them in place. As a note to the Nest people, please add locations like Garage and Laundry to your list!

Now I no longer worry about it. I love how it still notifies me even if I am away from the house. Price is worth it to me for the peace of mind.

Google keeps asking me to move from nest app to google app. Not going to do it. Nest was once great but now that google is involved the products have suffered and have been unreliable.
