Then the beeping started—about 2 per minute. There was no fire, smoke or anything. The batteries were in good shape. Cleaning off the surface of the alarms, as per the instructions helped for about 4 days. Then the beeping re-started driving my poor dog nuts, followed by my wife. The only thing that worked was removing the batteries. Do NOT buy this product. While my dog has forgiven me, my wife not so much.

Terrible won't stay connected

I purchased the Nest Protect and found inside the package it is already 1 year old. I wrote and complained and they stated they would replace it and expedite it. Go with another brand that will actually stand by their product.

It is not about the quality of the Nest product. Received two of the 3-packs of Nest Protect. When opened up boxes and read the label on each alarm, saw the manufacturing date was Dec 2018, with replace by date of Dec 2028. This is Dec 2019, which means have lost 1 year out of the 10-year lifetime. Looked at outside packaging - has some type of code number but no mention of manufacturing date. So have no idea till you purchase and open box what the alarm's manufacturing date is. Called Nest - says cannot provide the manufacturing date to me. But could provide it to Best Buy if they were to call. Called Best Buy service - cannot help over the phone; best to go to store and return.
