Disappointing. They are extremely sensitive and go off every time I cook. They do not shut off easily. I would not buy again.

I moved into a new home and since I want to move my home to be a smart home. When one of the batteries went out in one of the existing smoke detectors, I decided it was a sign to pull the plug and get these nest smoke & co detectors. I was unsure about the setup and replacing old ones. Geek Squad did a good job easing those concerns. Went one and patched up some of the wall from the wired one and put this battery one on top. Since it is battery operated and not wired, I just put the plate on which was super easy and the screws and plate are very well made. No anchors needed. I love that you can press the button or control it from your phone (havent tried this yet) You can program it to light your way. It does an excellent job even being so high up. The one at the top of my stairs sometimes turns on when I walk by (while down stairs)

I purchased five Nest Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors, and they've been in use for seven years now. The only maintenance required has been replacing the batteries every 2 to 2.5 years. If you set up the app correctly, the system takes care of everything else. It sends you text alerts when the batteries need replacing or when it's time for a self-check of all rooms. The smart system give me a peace of mind.

Bought these to replace the very out of date frisbee looking smoke detectors. Setup was a breeze, although the drywall screws had a bit of an issue in one of the install spots. This however could be an issue with the ceiling. Having a carbon monoxide detector as well is an added benefit. The nightlight function is great as well as not overly bright to ruin your vision at night. I already owned a Nest thermostat and never had any issues, another solid product.

We got a real live test of this product last night when a casserole dish bubbled over in the oven and within minutes caught fire after the grease dripped down into the holes where the gas comes from. We have 3 nest detectors which are all connected through out the house. As the smoke from the oven filled the entire house (full of 20 Easter Dinner guests mind you), each detector quickly went from silent to a chirp with a voice announcement saying alert smoke has been detected in such and such room to a full blown solid alarm noise and repeat voice announcements saying emergency emergency smoke in such and such room. Thankfully the fire remained in the oven, but we feel a lot better now knowing the smoke detectors work and work quickly when smoke is spreading through the house! Not that we were paying attention to the phone alerts at that point but they also popped up for every alert of the smoke detector and then gave us green safe notifications for each room as we got things aired out. I also saw mentioned in other reviews that people wished the app would alert them when the detector is doing a test. Mine always has! May be your settings on your phone and not the Nest app itself. These were easy to setup and are worth every penny for peace of mind while home and away!

I have had the Nest Protect 2nd Generation for close to six months now, and it is a sleek, modern smoke/carbon monoxide alarm. I like being able to check the status of it occasionally on the Nest app when I am out of the house, and I also get peace of mind from it's safety integration to shut down my HVAC system if there is smoke or carbon monoxide in the house. I would definitely recommend, a great product!

Bought three. Within 3 months all started beeping, needing new batteries which are supposed to be included for life of detector. Apple sent me 3 new detectors and same thing happened again. Waste of money. No trust in this product.

What can I say, these things are great replacements for your current Smoke/CO2 alarms. I purchased the battery powered ones so I can put them anywhere I want. I can't speak to the AC powered version, but it has all of the same features. I love these things because: - You can remove them and take them with you when you move - Battery life is amazing - Integrates with Alexa/Google - Cool looking - Motion sensing path light - Self test and notifications Come on look at them. Just on the cool factor alone! Highly recommend.

Love the way it lights your path in the dark- Love the way you can set them up to communicate with each other- really helpful when have 3 levels or when kids sleep at opposite end of the home. Love that it is a Smoke detector and a Carbon Dioxide Detector. Love that it warns you that it is going to sound alarm like if Smoke is close to kitchen. Easy to install with app-I didn’t use WiFi to install mine- But if do- you can get alerts when away from home.

I love home the Smart Smoke Detector works with my Google Nest Network. Great to have to go along the Smart Thermastat and Nest doorbell. It is pretty pricey for a smoke detector though.

We have had this Nest Protect for three years in multiple houses/apartments and I am glad that we bought the battery version. The battery version has lasted a long time and allows us to place it wherever we want. My wife likes it so much that she just purchased a second one. She likes the idea of being able to monitor the carbon monoxide for safety but also enjoys the idea of being notified on her phone if the smoke alarm triggers while she is out of the house.

Overall I like the Nest. It provides good clear alerts, has a nice night light feature we use when moving in the hall, and it’s connected with all other devices without hardwiring. The down side is after 5-years of use it no longer functions and needs to be replaced. I will get another nest but replacing 8+ devices costs about 150 a year spread across those 8 years.

These things have way more features than I expected, I assumed it was a nice smoke/CO sensor but it does alot more than that. The pathway lighting is great and works well with our existing nest door/window sensors pathlighting, my only complaint is that the sensor turns the pathlight on all the time while we are just moving in bed and it needs a setting where the sensitivity is reduced.

Great product and anyone can install easily. lights up hallway whenever you walk under it.

One of the best products Nest makes, plan to add a few more to our home. Very simple to setup and sync to app, pushes notification to your phone to alert you of any issue (great when you accidentally burn food while cooking as you can silence the alarm before it sounds).

It checks itself well frequently and being on batteries is good. The motion detection when there is no light around works great for the dark area that we have it in. The voice that warned for less than critical alarms is good feature over the older alarms that we have had. Connects to the Nest and shows itself in the Nest app well with your other devices, CAMs and termostats, etc.

In my opinion this is the best smoke and CO2 detector on the market. With the ability of being connected to your phone, other nest detectors, and/or the nest thermostat this allows you know interact with your home is a way you have never before. Being able to silence alarms with from your phone if you know there is no danger or being alerted outside of the home. The motion sensor low night light has been very useful. The LED notification light is very helpful as well. You will be surprised how much you enjoy this product. The reason I took one star off is the price. I think it is overpriced by $20.
