I bought 2 units - one for the kitchen and one for the hall; installation was a snap, IOS app is simple yet informative. The product works great - just a few days ago we've had a minor smoke in the kitchen - we got voice and app notifications about the problem/location and when the smoke started to clear - truly outstanding . I highly recommend this product.

As an avid do it 'yourselfer' and perfectionist I always do much research before I buy anything. These smoke/co detectors were rated very high on both function and features. Then there is the cost ... yes these do cost quite a bit compared to others, but after talking with my wife we said you cannot put any price on human life. Yes, there are others that most likely would do just fine, but I really liked the features that the Nest Smoke/CO detectors had. We got the 3-pack of total battery operated type while on sale; under $100/unit. I would include great detail with this review regarding features, but can easily be found on the Nest website. Unfortunately, the sale did not extend to the AC power with battery backup type or I would have included a 3 pack of those also. Every home should be fitted with at least the minimum number of smoke/co detectors to prevent fires and silent CO from killing.

I just bought a Nest thermostat for my really old heater and there was a little concern from my wife in regards to Carbon Monoxide exposure because the furnace was at least 16 years old and we had never used it in all that time. So we purchased this detector which was really nice! It lights up in the dark to shine the way up our stairs and can send signals to your smart phone if something happens. Pricey but worth the money!

I've tested with a sheet of paper lightly. The alarm works great. Having it "online" and able to be tested and checked on a recurring basis leaves one with confidence in the system. I now have three in my house. I did not want the AC units but now that these are battery powered and alert you very clearly as batteries get weaker, I feel safer about this topic than I ever have.

Installation was a breeze and so far no false alarms that I have heard so much about.

This was our third nest protect. We have two in our house and one in our cabin now and the peace of mind they give us is extraordinary. If it detects fire or smoke it turns the furnace off. And it warns us whenever it smells something dangerous. The night light feature is a great bonus when we have to get up during the night to let the dogs out.

I read a lot of reviews for this item, and bought two to start. They were extremely easy to add to my existing Nest account, and took about 5 minutes to install. Now, they will talk to my thermostat and turn it off if there is any Carbon Monoxide or Smoke, making my house even safer. I can also make sure my home is safe when I am at work or away on a vacation. Extremely happy with this product, and plan on adding a few more for added piece of mind.

Head my warning- check every detector in the home prior to replacing to see us they are all the same. We only checked one, purchased 6 wired and come to find out 5 were battery only. We purchased them directly from Google and they did not allow us to return them so we bought the battery version from Best Buy. I like that they all talk to each other and can be tested regularly through the app.

I haven't installed this one yet because we're selling the house, but I previously bought the Generation 1 and love it. I have two dogs at home alone while i'm at work and it's such a peace of mind that if a fire starts I'll be alerted on my phone. I also like how it lights up when the halls are dark. I only wish it stayed lighted a little longer. i also like the smoke and carbon monoxide detector in one so I don't have two different units on my ceiling.

Put one of these in my home and my mom's. I like that it has a night light that softly glows when I get near it. That's my mom's favorite part of it. Makes me feel safer having it and so far haven't set it off! I also will know if my home catches fire when I am not home.

The unit was very easy to set up and begin using. App works well and functionality is good. Love that it can detect true fire versus cooking or candle. Old smoke detector would go off while cooking, this gives a calm "heads up" that you can press button on unit or use app to silence. We purchased since we have a dog at home and like to know if something happens to call for help and friends while we drive home. Highly recommend.

After researching available smoke detectors, found the Nest protect comes equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detection. The battery powered option ( as opposed to hard wired ), is esay to install, set up in 10 minutes... Found the alert capability, both audio, visual, and language capability very useful in a home with 3 sons and family who all like to cook, so diciphering an emergency versus non threat is eaier for all in our family!
