Expensive, yes. All Nest items are. BUT this thing is solid. It's well-built, the lights on these alarms are cute and provide a good visual feedback on the state of the fire alarm. They test regularly, and the software on the iPhone app is super solid. MOST importantly, however: it works great and detects smoke readily. When one alarm goes off, the others do, too. So if you're upstairs and there's smoke in the kitchen, every one of these alarms will geneate a audible voice message saying that there's smoke. I wish they were more affordable, but wouldn't buy any other brand as far as I can tell.

Love this unit! Needed to replace an old smoke detector that kept misinterpreting steam from the shower as smoke. This unit knows the difference and does not go off when my wife takes a long hot shower. Also really like that it does its own monthly alarm check! Battery life is great, lasts a year or so.

Put one of these in my home and my mom's. I like that it has a night light that softly glows when I get near it. That's my mom's favorite part of it. Makes me feel safer having it and so far haven't set it off! I also will know if my home catches fire when I am not home.

An excellent product with elegant design. The nightlight feature when dark is really awesome.

There isn't much to say about a smoke detector, but I have this in a dark hallway and it has a night light. Also, I like being able to check on it when I am away from home.

Easy to install. No Problems. Works great. I like the night light and the green status light ( lets you know it's working). I must admit I feel safer going to bed with these smoke/carbon detectors. I plan to add to more rooms

I purchased a pair of these to complement the other smoke alarms (basic) installed at my home. Easy installation, but make sure to understand where to place them. They communictate with each other in the event of an alarm. Nice to have for piece of mind, especially if you have natural gas coming into your home.

Simple device that does what it says (within reason). Painless install that works with Mesh Networks finally! The only issue is a max of 10 homes in Google Nest so if your using this for many locations (or in a small business application) be aware of Googles limitstions

I already had the Nest thermostat. Therefore, adding a Nest Smoke Detector was simple and easy to do. This is a natural progression into converting my home into a smart home. I already bought a wired Nest smoke detector and this battery powered version was great for an area in my home where I didn't already have a smoke detector wired. Extremely easy set up and integration to my other Nest products.

This is the top of the line smoke detector. Easy install/setup and looks great.

I would buy them again, even though they are pricey. I believe they are worth it. I love that they contact me, even if I’m traveling far from home. I remember one time while I was away from home, I got a notification that there was smoke in the kitchen. I called home and someone went into the kitchen and shut off the stove top. I highly recommend these.

Every night I love that it shows me that everything has been tested and good to go. One night it lost our WiFi signal for before we went to bed it flashed yellow. Hit the nest button and told me exactly what was wrong. Only complaint is the path light picks up my tiny cats, so it is really sensitive to motion. Everything it says it does!

Love it , just converted to gas and wanted something that conect to my google home it is a bit pricey but I love it and feel secure

I now have 10 Nest Protects in my home (both 120V and battery), and they are brilliant. Easy to program and easy to install. I also have a Nest Thermostat, so having the smokes help in identifying when someone comes home - the smoke talks to the thermostat and the thermostat changes from Away to Home. Additionally, 24/7 tech support was actually there at 1:00 am on a Thursday morning. You really can't go wrong.

I've used the Nest Protect Smoke/CO^2 alarms for over 7 years. They interconnect nicely and intercom to all the units if there is an alert such as "Heads up, There is smoke in the basement". These are supposed to connect to the Nest Thermostat and turn off the furnace if CO^2 is detected.

Easy to install and love that it can all be linked with Nest app.

aside from a few minor glitches when trying to set up (aka our internet was the issue not the nest devices), they are now set up and we love them. Not only do they act as a night light when they sense movement (pretty cool!), but you can also check the history on the app and check their proper operation as often as you want. Very much worth the money!
