Very happy with these detectors. We started with two and are thinking of replacing more of our detectors with them. Set up was really easy. I loaded the Nest app on my phone and between the directions in the box and the guidance by the app it was done in a few minutes. My son likes that when he shuts off his light at night the ring glows green briefly to let him know all is good. I didn't like the idea of the auto testing so I shut that feature off but I have run a test manually using the Nest app and it was really easy...just stand near one of the Nest detectors and hit a button and the app tested both of them sequentially and reported back. I really like the idea that I can check the status of them remotely as well. We left our teenage sons home alone for a night and it was comforting to see that I could check on the status of the detectors remotely and know the house wasn't burning down and that I could run a check on them to be sure I wasn't getting a false 'all ok'. I like the fact that the ring will light up white to provide lighting in an emergency as one of them is in an interior hallway where if the power goes out it would be pitch black. We had an older detector in the hallway that also provided a light but it needed replacing and it is challenging to find a smoke + CO detector that will provide emergency lighting. The unit itself is surprisingly attractive. I didn't think we cared about that but as we were installing them it was a pleasant surprise

Very easy setup and connects right to the nest thermostat. My favorite part is its smoke and carbon monoxide all in one and allows for alerts to come right to your phone/smart device even when you aren't home. Have peace of mind even while you are away.

Luckily I have not needed it yet but I love the fact I can see what is happening and know it is testing in the background to stay active. Lastly, very easy to install and setup.

While the directions were very good, the Nest video on YouTube was even better. I followed the video exactly and it worked just as they said. I got the battery powered version so I could mount it wherever I wanted. No issues at all.

This is the second Protect that I have purchased and they work great. I was at work one day and received a notification that there was smoke at home, called my wife and she said that something on the stove burned. Easy set up too.

Works very well! Make sure you read the packaging though. Some have batteries and some are actually wired. Bestbuy doesn't always put the correct items in the right spots and I purchased the wired one first and went back to get the one that has the battery.

Easily set up and easily installed, my 3 detectors immediately synchronized, tested themselves with loud clear verbal sentences, followed by loud piercing alarms. The app works well and allows me to check the status(battery condition) of each detector and to test one or all. The path light feature at night is a nice bonus. These detectors are pricey compared to those of competitors, but appear to be worth every penny, as well as to look better than the competition detectors, which are (relatively speaking) eyesores.

When my seven year old Kidde smoke and CO detectors expired I started researching different options and decided to go with Nest. I bought my first Nest Protect on Black Friday. I've been pleasantly surprised on how these normally invisible devices have become the basic foundation of my modern smart home. The pathway lighting is a nice feature as is the Nightly Promise that glows green when you turn off the lights letting you know all is well. I have since added a second device. Integration was seamless as the two devices work together. I will add more as the older units reach their end of life. As an added bonus, If one of the devices detects carbon monoxide it will disable the furnace if a Nest thermostat is on the network. Well done. Simple. Eloquent.

I use it for my weekend cabin. and its great to be able to monitor being far away. set up is easy. update and check up. Its definatly a life saver.

As a smoke / C02 detector it does the job very well. As an component to add to a SmartHome the is limited / no support with other SmartHome devices. You may want to have your lights change color or blink when a hazard is found. This will require a 3rd party product, despite the fact that Nest and Google are part of the same family. From repeated attempts to get Nest Support to address this as a consumer issue, they are deaf to these requests from many users. Profile management, if you join other family members it appears that a profile change to alerts impact all users' profiles.

I added my new Nest Protect to my Nest account with no problem which I expected. It was easy to configure just like my other Nest products. I have every confidence this combination Smoke & CO sensor/alarm will perform as advertised.

Nest Smoke Detector came just as described from the Store. Would purchase them again.

If you love tech and don't mind spending the money..then purchase this product...it's no doubt the future...the only con I would have is the price..quite a lot of money to spend on a smoke detector.

Best device to protect from smoke and carbon monoxide. App is nice to have and verbal alerts are great too. Especially if there are pets in the home and we are away

I like that it's not your standard smoke alarm, it has a high tech look and feel to it. I placed it in the hallway so when it's dark you can see the nightlight, which is a cool feature. I will be replacing all of my smoke alarms with these.

I've wanted to upgrade my Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors since these types came out. This is a very good looking and dependable alarm. It actually tells you where the smoke or alarm is rather than just make a noise. It lights up in the dark when motion is detected but not really bright enough to light the way like it states. Could be MUCH brighter but it could wake some people up. Maybe could be made adjustable. Good in hallways but maybe not in a bedroom.

Works great. Installed on boat, connected to wifi and sends alerts to my phone. Easy to silence when cooking.

I've had this unit mounted in the hallway for about a month and a half, and it's worked fine. The motion-activated night light is a neat feature. You can adjust its brightness from the app. The app also lets you know when you last tested the alarm.

I installed three of these in my new house. They were all easy to install and test. Now I have the reassurance of "smart" detectors that will notify me on my phone if there are any problems and that are all interconnected should an alarm sound.

I already had a Nest thermostat so I was familiar with how well their products work. I like having ability to control the smoke and carbon monoxide detector by my phone. I recommend to anyone who wants to enhance their smart homes
