I sprayed some air freshener and the device picked it up. It speaks to you as well. The only thing I would say is the alarm is quick to go off but there is a small delay when it comes to the app alerting you.

Great Smoke Detector

Had one alert when burgers on the kitchen stove got a little well done. Nest calmly told us to check that area of the house. I was a floor away and heard the same alert on another Nest. My wife had the burgers turned down by the time I got to the kitchen. This system really works!
