I have four of these in my home, the networking was smooth, and each one has an announcement that tells you where the alarm is coming from. This is one of those rare examples of good tech.

We can have a little smoke in the kitchen and it will talk to us and state, "heads up, there is smoke on the main floor". If it continues to detect it, it will send a message to the other 2 and state the alarm will be going off. You can shut it off and when it does not detect any more smoke, even after it was shut off, the device will state the warning has ended. Our other smoke detector did not even pick up the smoke.
