    Was a gift for my parents, works great for them. They got one as a gift last year and liked it enough that they wanted two more for the house. They're quite happy with them. Nothing outstanding but they're cool and work as needed.

    This is my 3rd one - I'm gradually replacing all the old smoke detectors in my home with these Nest ones. They are great because they can notify you on your phone if there are any issues and you can turn them off/reset them from your phone if your girlfriend, who is terrible at cooking, burns something.

    All of the Nest products are awesome and this includes the Nest Protect. If you have multiple Protects in your home they communicate with each other to ensure the health of the units and make announcements. If there is an alert all Protects announce it along with information on the location of the problem and the severity. Any Nest Cams on the network begin filming and an alert is sent to your cell phone. Truly an intelligent system.
