I just noticed that I bought this in October 2018 and have had the same batteries when I installed it, and any time it's dark and I move in my house the halo ring on it lights up, so this thing has had to light up like a million times, so battery life is amazing. I've also cooked in the kitchen with this nest smoke detector and had some smoke come up every now and then but it only gives a pre-alarm. It actually talks to you and says something like "there's smoke detected, the alarm will sound" and gives a few chimes. It'll also give you a notification on your phone which is key if you're not actually home destroying some food recipe.

Easy to install and run the initial tests. Can't really assess more than that unless it is is ever actually needed in an emergency

Our old smoke detector went off any time the shower was used so this is a welcome upgrade. It has a light indicator to show that all is well and can be integrated with additional Nest smart home items if you have them. It can work separately without other Nest components too. We feel a lot safer now.

Works great as far as I know. Yopu'll want to use lithium batteries. I haven't had to actually test it thankfully.

this is the best smoke detector I've ever owned. It is WAY more expensive than your standard detector, but the ability to monitor from your phone and easily silence false alarms is a great perk.

This initial installation was not hard. The steps illustrated in the enclosed guide was sufficient. I like the ability to be able to check the status of the unit via my smartphone or via any web browser. The "PathLight" feature is my favorite. It is motion activated, and provide a very comfortable glow i n the dark hallway when approached.

I've been part of the NEST universe for some time now (indoor camera & doorbell) so logically I had to get the smoke alarm since I needed one. Alarm works really well and the fact that you can check the current status and alarm history on the NEST app is awesome! Definitely will be getting more throughout the house.

great product for a smoke detector the only issue is that google still has it on the old nest app and the nest app is dying off i hope in the near future they will migrate all there products to the home google app
