Which is pretty annoying.

Nice Nest

Love the mirror look and it’s simple to use and setup. I wish the app was its own separate app and not part of google home, but isn’t a big deal.

Posted .Hello there, BoxBoy. Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re glad that your Nest Thermostat looks fine and works well for you. Nest thermostats would generally work without a common (C) wire. However, there are some systems that would require a C wire on the new Nest Thermostat like a heat only or cool only systems. And sometimes, you may need to connect a common wire (C wire) or power accessory, like the Nest Power Connector, to make your system compatible.
The C wire is also require on these cases:
- When you set up your thermostat, the Google Home app tells you that you need the Power Connector or a C wire.
- Your thermostat screen shows a power-related help code, such as E1, E297, N260 or N261.
- Your thermostat screen shows “Very low battery. Replace now and install a stable power source.”
- Your thermostat battery keeps draining.
- Your thermostat keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi.

Thermostat can be controlled through the Google home app as well as manually. My nephew has owned Nest thermostats for years and finally convinced me to get one. I’m glad I did.

I really like being able to control the unit with my phone. Setting up schedules of when it is on or off or reducing temperature when we are not home is very nice.

Bought new HVAC wire since my old thermostat only req'd a red and white (YES you need C wire or transformer if you only have a R and W!). Was having my furnace constantly turning on and off. Eventually purchased a transformer from Amazon to power the Nest. Having a hard time connecting it to Wifi, but it does what I need and is much more aesthetically pleasing than my previous clunky thermostat.

Posted .Hi mariahp, thanks for sharing a review about the Nest Thermostat. We can imagine how hard you tried to make it work, and we appreciate all your efforts. However, it’s unfortunate to learn that you’re having a hard time connecting it to Wi-Fi.
Connectivity issues can be caused by different factors like location and distance of Nest device, Wi-Fi router, outdated phone and Nest app. This may also be caused by Wi-Fi network congestion, and Wi-Fi interference with other devices and/or networks. Removing other devices from your Wi-Fi might help.You can also try setting up your Nest Thermostat on either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands and see which band is more reliable.

We feel better knowing how our heat and AC are performing when we are not home.

The batteries it came with were already dead and only realized after finishing install which kind of sucked but it was very easy to just remove the face plate and change them out.

It is easy to use, and has clear feature that can be read in a dark hallway. It can easily be used remotely in multiple rooms in a home.

It works perfectly to give us piece of mind when we are away from our lake cabin. Hooked it up, use propane heat, little more difficult, but now that we have it hooked up, it works great!
