    Nice device but a pain

    It's a pain in the neck. They changed the software over the past few years so that you are now required to have a "c-wire" installed on your furnace in order for this device to work properly. Well, my electrician wants to charge me $175 for a service call to install one. Not what I expected.

    This was literally the worst experience. I had to schedule someone twice from the geek squad to install it and the second tech left with my unit not working any longer. The tech left with no responsibility. I then had to call an HVAC company to come fix the unit.

      Hi Mitpol,

      Thank you for your feedback. While the new Nest Thermostat doesn't have a touch screen, It is still possible to directly control your new Nest Thermostat by using the touch bar on the right side of the thermostat. Swipe up to raise the temperature, swipe down to lower it, and tap to confirm. The display will show you how many minutes until your desired temperature is reached.

      - Tap the touch bar to bring up the menu.
      - Swipe up or down to select an option.
      - Tap the touch bar again to confirm your selection.

      Here are some user controls you can directly access on the device:
      - Temperature adjustments
      - HVAC modes (Heat, Cool, Heat or Cool, Off)
      - Temperature hold
      - Fan
      - Emergency heat
      - Reset

    Can't get it to work

    Hard to get it programmed. My app keeps saying that it cannot connect and the last time I tried it said it is not compatible with the wiring at my house. Pain in the butt. I went to send it back and was informed that it was too late and the "return window" passed by 2 days. I have had several people try to do it so that took time, plus I am in the middle of moving and construction.

    This is the worst investment I ever made in my life! I absolutely hate this thermostat and do not recommend! Very poor quality product adjust on its own. You wake up in the night sweating because the temperatures changes on its own. I would give mine away for free if someone just put a new one in for my that I purchase!

    I purchased this Google Nest Smart Thermostat on May 2, 2022. It worked for 6 months, then stopped working on November 15, 2022 during 30-degree weather. My furnace would not work when this thermostat stopped working. I was without heat for 2 days & nights while waiting for a repair man.

      Hi there, we appreciate you for providing us your feedback about the Nest Thermostat, and we’re sorry to learn that your experience with the connectivity and temperature settings did not meet your preferences and needs.

      Nest thermostats connectivity issues could be related to power issues, which may occur when your system wires can't deliver enough power to keep the thermostats charged up. As a result, they start draining the batteries and disconnect from your Wi-Fi. And sometimes, poor Wi-Fi connectivity can also cause the battery to drain faster. Your Nest thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged. If the power to your system is switched off or there’s a blackout, the battery has enough capacity to keep working for a while but will eventually run out. Your thermostat will also turn off features like Wi-Fi to preserve battery life before it must turn off completely.

    Terrible product. I’ve had so many issues with it since I bought it 3 months ago. Nest won’t help and Best Buy won’t help either. I’ve spent hours trying to find a solution. I’ve wasted so much money too. Stay away from this product. Headache product!!!!!!

    Do Not Buy if you Don't have a C Wire. Period.

    C Wire - you cannot set this unit up if your system doesn't have one. There is no way around it. The software will not allow you to add the device to your Google Home account and you can't bypass it. I took a chance and learned the hard way. Very disappointing. Now I have a useless item I cannot return and needed to buy the older E Thermostat instead...

      Nest thermostats can charge their built-in battery using your system’s heating and cooling wires. But, when your heating and cooling wires are not able to deliver the needed power for your Nest thermostat, you may need to connect a common or C wire.     Horrible product

    I couldn't connect it to my wifi was it uses other nest products to connect. I spent over 6 hours going back and forth with support I just have up. I upgraded to the nest nest thermostat and had no issues connecting
