I recommend looking at your utility provider as many provide rebates for installing a smart thermostat. I paid $100 in store, but received a $75 rebate for the installation. Easy setup.

And the installation was easy and I like that they provide the step-by-step video instructions. I love the voice control and the ability to control it from my phone.

Posted .Hello there, BoxBoy. Thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re glad that your Nest Thermostat looks fine and works well for you. Nest thermostats would generally work without a common (C) wire. However, there are some systems that would require a C wire on the new Nest Thermostat like a heat only or cool only systems. And sometimes, you may need to connect a common wire (C wire) or power accessory, like the Nest Power Connector, to make your system compatible.
The C wire is also require on these cases:
- When you set up your thermostat, the Google Home app tells you that you need the Power Connector or a C wire.
- Your thermostat screen shows a power-related help code, such as E1, E297, N260 or N261.
- Your thermostat screen shows “Very low battery. Replace now and install a stable power source.”
- Your thermostat battery keeps draining.
- Your thermostat keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi.

Posted .Hey there, Tony. Sorry you’ve run into trouble installing your Nest Thermostat. Here are a couple of troubleshooting steps to get your device back on track:
1. Check for a W5 help code: If your thermostat can’t see any nearby Wi-Fi networks, including your own, you may have a W5 issue. To access Network settings, press the thermostat ring and open the Quick View menu. Then, select Settings and turn the ring until Network appears. If you see an Error - nest.com/w5 message on your thermostat, go to Troubleshoot a Nest thermostat W5 code.
2. Restart your thermostat: On your thermostat, go to Settings and then Restart. After your thermostat has finished restarting, use the Home app to try to connect again.
3. Restart your router: Sometimes a router restart can get your network to show up on your thermostat.

Once installed and set your desired temperature, it will do the rest. Nice feature like automatic away mode etc. Also get rebate form your utility company. Overall good purchase.

For the controls, Nest Thermostats don’t have a touch screen. Use the touch bar on the right side to control your thermostat. It is not completely rotating, you can swipe up or down to select an option. Anyone that's disabled should change to it, they won't regret it.

I replaced my smart fill treat thermostat with the nest and everything runs smoother. Programming is easier with Google home. Motion detection and learning is a great feature. I only wish it would sync with Alexa.

Had to hire a furnace tech to install the connector. Not a diy job.

Check the specs; all these thermostats attempts really good at controlling your house temp (and saving $$$!)
