The best way to save money and manage your home

Replacing thermostat

I bought different brand before and room temperature displayed room was moving too fast up and down, making the a/c unit going on and off too often. I don’t have that problem since I replaced thermostat with this Nest Smart Google unit. Happy customer

It doesn't have the learning of the more advanced model. I've had those in another house and we ended up overwriting the "smart" program anyway. I did have an issue with my network but it went away when I upgraded my router tech.

Must download and use Google Home app. Had several G-mail accounts. If I did not yet have one, would have been a hassle.

I like the fact that it provides all the needed information succinctly and in a manner which is easy to see and comprehend. Overall very happy with it... and it is pretty cool looking

But using the Google Home app makes it a little easier but its definitely not as user friendly.

Posted .Hi TotallyTubularTech, we greatly appreciate your feedback on Nest Thermostat, and we’re sorry to hear that you find it nt user friendly. Though the Nest Thermostat doesn't have a touch screen, you can use the touch bar on the right side to control your thermostat. You can swipe up to raise the temperature, swipe down to lower it, and tap to confirm. The display will show you how many minutes until your desired temperature is reached.
- Tap the touch bar to bring up the menu.
- Swipe up or down to select an option.
- Tap the touch bar again to confirm your selection.

The c-wire is to assist with battery life is somewhat confusing. The battery life is short lived without the c-wire which is a black wire.

It looks great and performs well while being sold at a very reasonable price point. The only drawback is the lack of learning capability, but that didn't affect me. A solid smart thermostat.

I don’t like the difficult programming without detailed instructions. They made it way too complicated. I have two in the house [2 furnaces & ac units] and too often they don’t acknowledge when I’m home or away properly.

I can control my thermostat from my bed, or when I go out, before I get home. The only thing I didn't know, was that you need to buy in some cases the frame to hold it in place if you have one of those old thermostat. Highly recommend.

Before this thermostat I just had a normal thermostat where you couldn't schedule when it would operate. It has significantly reduced my heating and cooling bills

I like the fact I can program the temperatures and the home/away works great.
