Could not use the special connector sold by google nest, since there was no spot on the electrical panel for it. Batteries worked on the thermostadt for a short time, but it would not stay connected to WIFI without a stable power source. Could probably work for other systems

Wi-Fi disconnection and power issues may be connected. Nest thermostats are designed to get power from your system wires supply. If the system wires can't deliver enough power, the thermostat battery will start draining, and this results in your thermostat limiting its features such as Wi-Fi connection to preserve battery. We recommend a Nest Pro technician to check on your system´s wiring, and possibly install a common (C) wire if needed.

Posted .Hi StevenM, we appreciate you for the feedback you provided about the Nest Thermostat, and we’re sorry to learn it doesn’t stay at the programmed temperature at night. We can imagine the inconvenience it may have caused, and this is not the kind of experience we want to share with you.
If you want to set your thermostat on temperature hold to maintain a specific temperature for as long as you want, please see the steps below:
- In the Menu view, select Hold temperature.
- Select Current temp or Eco.
- Choose a time. You can scroll up and down to edit the time by half-hour blocks.
If you’re using the Eco preset, you can also choose None to hold the temperature indefinitely until you end the hold. For other presets, your thermostat can hold the temperature for up to 24 hours.
- Select Confirm.
If you want to make changes to the temperature but there’s a hold, the app or thermostat will tell you that you need to end the hold first.
