Using the Nest Temperature Sensor, please make sure to install it within a maximum of 50 feet (15 m) of your thermostat, so the sensor and thermostat can communicate wirelessly. You may need to place them closer together because the wireless range can be reduced by walls, floors, appliances, furniture and other electronics.

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the sensor to monitor and control the temperature in a bedroom at different times than in the living room where the Nest thermostat is located. While the Nest thermostat does allow me to switch between thermostat and sensor, the times of day that I can choose are restricted to a preset range, and they cannot be changed. For example, I want the thermostat to monitor the living room between 7am and 10pm, then switch to the bedroom sensor between 10pm and 7am the next day. Well, the only option Google Nest allows is to select Night, which the pseudo-gurus of Google deem to be fixed between 9pm and 7am. This makes the sensor almost useless. I have to physically move the sensor between rooms from 9pm to 10pm. I guess Google just gave up on it. What a dreadful misapplication of technology.

It doesnt really change much to affecting the thermastate and you have to put a bigger than it should be screw knto your drywall so plan on patching walls if you later move it, otherwise its wefe you initial choose, so do so wisely.
