Received a defective item; Best Buy customer service would not provide a refund or store credit as we missed the return window by 10 days. Very disappointing as we've just purchased a new home and were planning to got o Best Buy for all our appliances. If they can't make this simple request right, I'm afraid they are not giving me the confidence to continue giving them our business.

      Hi Eduardo,

We appreciate your feedback and we're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with your Nest thermostat and Nest Temperature Sensor.

All Nest thermostats have multiple temperature sensors that take very precise readings. You can see the unrounded ambient temperature (to the tenth of a degree): on your thermostat, go to Settings, and then Technical Info, and then Sensors. That said, your thermostat’s temperature screen will often show you two different temperatures:

      - The large target temperature in the middle of the thermostat screen is the temperature that your thermostat was set to either manually or automatically by your temperature schedule. Your system will work to reach and maintain this temperature.
      - The small current temperature at the edge of the thermostat screen is the ambient temperature in your home right now.

Furthermore, Nest Temperature Sensor connects to your Nest thermostat via a low-energy Bluetooth and shouldn't be placed further than 50ft (15m) away from your Nest thermostat. We also recommend to make sure its battery is not drained.

We are always here to help you. You can reach out to us in the following support link to have a look at your Nest thermostat to understand the temperature measuring issue and help you install the Nest Temperature Sensor if you decide to get it again: https://support.google.com/googlenest/contactflow Nest

I had to return mine because I needed it for a remote bedroom that was regulated by an older nest thermostat. I tried to use it in our master bedroom, which is controlled by a newer nest thermostat on the main floor. I didn't find a clear use for the device. I returned it for this reason.

The sensor linked up to my Nest thermostat but then when i set the temperature on the Nest Sensor the heat/AC never would go to that temperature. So issue is either with the Sensor or the Thermostat, but regardless I now wasted my money and my problem is not solved.

      Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest thermostat and sensor.

First of all, we recommend checking if Nest Temperature Sensor shows up as active under 'Temperature Sensors' when you tap into your thermostat in the Nest app.

If all the settings are correct, and your Nest thermostat turns on heating or cooling when the temperature sensor is selected as main sensor, then this means the sensor is working as intended.

Keep in mind, the sensor is located in another room. If your HVAC system is not zoned, your system will turn on for the entire house, not just for the room the sensor is in. So it takes longer to bring the temperature of the entire house to the level you choose. In the meantime, areas such as living room where the main vents are located will see increase/decrease sooner.

We can take a closer look to isolate the issue and provide a resolution if you can contact us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/contactflow Nest
