Works as described, perfect !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sensor works exactly as described! IF you have a 3rd gen thermostat then buy it! We have multiples rooms within the household and at night I would like certain rooms to be cooler than the hallways or downstairs common area. Works absolutely perfect, with minimal setup time. Couldn't be happier. I only wish the readings in the room display would be slightly larger font size to easily see the temp. I bought 4!

Good start
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like that i can prioritize my bedroom over the family room where my Nest is located. i this would be 5 star if i could customize more like the time to prioritize a room. my Nest as learned the times and temps i like. if i could make evening or night the times i typically go to bed instead of the preset. Also the setup and walk away is a little misleading. while the sensor is very small and discreet, dont put it next to a device or appliance that produces too much heat. ie: a tv or lamp that you run often. in just the few hours i have had mine i had to move it from behind the tv dresser( where my wife liked it. completely out of site). certain areas may "trap" heat and throw off the rest of the rooms comfort. it might seem obvious but in my case the best furniture also has other items that can change temp enough to confuse a sensor. otherwise i love it! i have been holding out switching from Nest to Ecobee for this!

Energy saver!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now this thing is a must have if you have a basement or lower level that is much cooler than your upper or main level. It pairs with the nest thermostat. Great addition to it! It is so worth the cost! It pays for itself!

Works for a household of one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The concept is good, but ultimately the product falls short. We have a family of four. The front bedrooms get afternoon sun and don't cool like the rest of the house. It'll be 77-78 degrees in the front rooms and five degrees cooler elsewhere. If we want to cool those rooms at bedtime, the rest of the house gets too cold as the thermostat is reading the front bedrooms and not the entire house. The concept would seem to work for an individual or a couple, but falls short when there are multiple rooms you are trying to control at once. An alternative would be to average the temperature from multiple sensors, like the Ecobee.

Great at what it does
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does exactly what you think it does. Only downside is there is no logic between different sensors. You have to chose one to use

A basic temperature sensor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned this product for around two months now and have been able to see its full potential. My wife and I have a two story house with one heat pump and a Nest thermostat. Because of the placement of the Nest downstairs, the upstairs temperature is either too hot or too cold so that is where this temperature sensor comes into play. The sensor connects very easy with the nest thermostat and as long as your wifi signal is good it updates frequently. It does come with a screw to mount to the wall or it can be placed on a table. The biggest issue I have had is the temperature doesn't quite match up to what it really is, normally it is off by 1-2 degrees but this is still far better than what it was before.

Terrible range. Drained my Nest Thermostat battery
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The nest temperature sensor claims 50 ft range, but in my experience, the line of sight range is approximately 20-25 ft before it gives the low signal warning. My thermostat is in a hallway about 15 foot from the bedroom door. I had to put the sensor just inside the door way since the signal cannot reach the opposite wall, where the baby's bassinet is (my intended location). After I had added the temperature sensor to my Nest E, I noticed that my nest kept disconnecting because of low battery. I had to pull it off the wall every morning to charge it or it would shut off. After 3 days of this frustration, I disconnected the sensor to my thermostat. After that, my Nest E acted normally and kept up its charge. Needless to say, I returned the product.

Posted .We're sorry to hear about these issues you've experienced with the Nest Temperature Sensor range. This is expected to have a range of up to 50 feet depending on the environment this is placed in. If there are multiple other devices between the Nest Thermostat and Nest Temperature Sensor or physical interference like walls, or doors, this can cause the range to be reduced.
With that said, we'll be happy to pass this feedback up to the proper departments on your behalf.

Don't bother
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When new for about 6 months all 3 devices worked, then intermittent problems like weak connection....then no connection. Batteries all checked out. Spoke with Service Techs who were patient but not one of their suggestions worked. I could be standing within 2 feet of the Nest Thermostat and not a single sensor among the 3 I own would connect. Very disappointing. I cannot recommend.

Not good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a nest user for 4years now. I have always appreciated that you can update the software so you don’t need to update the hardware, until now.... I have the nest2 and like many others can’t use this product unless I upgrade to the 3. It is unacceptable of google to not make this compatible. Thermostat hardware is not some5hing that should need replacement every 3-4 years

Posted .When the Nest Learning Thermostat 1st and 2nd Generation products launched, they were designed without Bluetooth Low Energy capabilities and they run older chipsets with less memory and processing power than our newer thermostats. This accessory launch does not mean that first and second generation Nest Learning Thermostats need to be upgraded. They continue to help people save energy and stay comfortable, and they receive regular software updates just like the newer thermostats. They simply do not work with this specific accessory.

Inaccurate and slow to track temperature changes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Inaccurate and slow to track temperature changes, which leads to the furnace or AC to run longer than it needs to, overshooting the set temperature. I’ve placed one of these sensors right next a nanit camera and Govee both the nanit and the Govee read 71 degrees, while the nest sensor read 68 degree. I've even placed the nest sensor next to the nest thermostat and got 2 different readings; the sensor being 1 degree lower. Far too expensive, the value is simply not there, just google leveraging their name to get the most out of the consumer.

TEMP SENSOR NOT CALIBRATED TO THERMOSTAT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I REALLY LIKE MY NEST LEARNING THERMOSTAT AND BOUGHT THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR FOR THE BEDROOM TO CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE AT NIGHT. UNFORTUNATELY, THE SENSOR READS 2 DEG LOWER THAN THE THERMOSTAT, WHICH MEANS THE PROGRAM DOESN’T WORK RIGHT WHEN IT SWITCHES TO THE SENSOR. I CONTACTED NEST SUPPORT AND THERE DOESN’T SEEM TO BE A WAY TO CALIBRATE THE SENSOR WITH THE THERMOSTAT. I’M RETURNIG THIS TO THE STORE.

Posted .We're sorry to hear about this experience you've had with your Nest Temperature sensor not appearing to read the ambient temperature properly. It's possible that due to the location of this temperature sensor, there may have been some other factor causing this to read a few degrees off. We'd suggest placing the temperature sensor in a different area of the same room, and allowing 15 minutes for this to update to see if the temperature remains the same or adjusts itself as expected.

Doesn’t save money or energy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Batteries run down so fast and need replacement so this doesn’t qualify as an energy efficient or money saving device. I would buy one that plugs into an outlet.
