Hi Yoooooo, thanks for sharing some details of your issue with using the Nest Thermostat and we’re sorry to learn that it’s no longer working after a few months of usage. This is not the experience we want you to have. If your Nest Thermostat won’t turn on, the batteries could have drained or there could be a power issue. We suggest replacing the batteries with high-quality 1.5 V AAA alkaline batteries from a known manufacturer. Thank you for letting us know of your experience with the new Nest Thermostat. It's so unfortunate to hear you ran into a compatibility issue and you didn't get the help you needed from our support team.

While the Nest Thermostat is compatible with 85% of HVAC systems and designed to receive the needed power from the heating and cooling wires, some systems like heat-only, or cool-only heat pumps may require a common (C) wire to operate.

To view, edit, or create temperature presets for your thermostat:
- Open the Home app.
- Select your thermostat on the home screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Select Temperature preferences.
- Choose Temperature presets.
- Select an existing preset to change or delete it, or tap Add to create a custom preset.

Using the Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits including access to Google's trusted security platform and access to other Google tools and with seamless integration with other Google devices. We chose to transition to the Home app because this app is designed for the future of the smart home, a single place to set up, manage, automate, and control your home. Most home devices are controlled across multiple apps, but we’re working on making the Google Home app the central controller across all your home devices, including Google devices and devices from other brands.

Here are some other benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Thermostat:
- Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- You can use voice commands on your speaker or display to override a lock temperature.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.

Hi WickedGood, thanks for sharing your feedback with us about the Nest Thermostat, and we’re sorry to hear of your difficult experience with using the touch bar on the side. We designed the thermostats with ease of setup and use, and this is clearly not the kind of user experience we intended to share with you.

Nest Thermostats don’t have a touch screen but a touch bar on the right side. Also, you can control and manage the thermostat settings using the app even when you’re not at home as long as your thermostat and Home app (phone or tablet) are both online.
