Modern thermostat so handy

Hooking up the C wire despite an old furnace wasn't difficult, just some wires to strip. It was an easy task to teach my 17 year old son on. Then a small patch of the wall, some paint, and all set! Finally, much easier to add/modify schedules to save energy.

It's really easy to use and really convenient. If I left the house and forgot to turn up the air so we don't waste electricity you can log right into the app and change it. When we are downstairs and we know it's getting close to bed time we will go in through the app and change the upstairs to make it cooler. LOVE THIS!

Nest Thermostat

It is easy to install and set up to maintain three temperature settings of comfort, eco, and sleep. If your system doesn’t have a “common” thermostat wire the Google wiring adapter is needed to maintain optimal performance.

Functional and easy

They are extremely easy to install, set up and operate. I love the touchscreen, look and feel. The app on the phone is fine. Easy to get to, change and operate. Well worth the price, but I am not "super fancy". I like functional over fancy.

I love the fact if im cold in bed i can just reach over to my phone and turn the temperature up!! Be sure if u csn get some help installing it. Ensure its fully hooked up. That was my biggest task.

Overall the functionality is very good and able to control without c wire in most cases. So try to see how good u can control them from mobile

I have a boiler system, so it is unfortunate it doesn't have the smart logic for it, like the high end ones. Also a pain there isn't a central way to schedule multiple thermostats

Doesn't work for all houses

It's working well. I had to call a company to install it ("Hello Tech" for $99) I like that i can change the temperature from my phone I also had to buy the Nest plate to put behind as the thermostat is small and did not cover the hole in the wall left after removing the old thermostat

No "c" wire no power. Must use a pair of rechargeable batteries for power and charge when batteries are getting low. Counter intuitive rotating dial.

Posted .Hey jimmy, we’re thankful for the feedback you shared on the Nest Thermostat, and we hear your concerns about the its batteries and power, and with the touch control.
We recommend replacing the batteries using only high-quality 1.5 V AAA alkaline batteries from a known manufacturer, so your thermostat can control your system (and you can stay comfortable) while you check the C wire. After you put in fresh batteries, go to “Fix or connect a C wire” for additional troubleshooting help: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9251212
If you repeatedly get low battery messages from your thermostat, or if there’s another power-related message, you may need to check the C wire connection or install a C wire to provide consistent power to your thermostat and prevent the backup batteries from draining. Some systems, including heating-only, cooling-only, zone-controlled, and heat pump systems, require a C wire or the Nest Power Connector. Go to g.co/nest/cwire for details.
Also, although you can control and manage the thermostat settings using the app even when you’re not at home as long as your thermostat and Home app (phone or tablet) are both online, you can use the touch bar on the right side to control your thermostat, you can also swipe up to raise the temperature, swipe down to lower it, and tap to confirm. The display will show you how many minutes until your desired temperature is reached.
