    Many different websites say that this thermostat is compatible with a two-wire (no “c” or “common” wire) system. I think it WAS. At a time when you set it up electronically through the Nest app. There are several videos online which show you how to do it (the installation, not the setup on the app). HOWEVER...the QR code now forces you to use the Google Home app. This app will not allow for a full and successful setup without a c-wire. Once I realized this, a quick search online reveals the same thing. Further investigation reveals that having no c-wire causes problems with the batteries charging leading to more serious problems. Unless you already have a C-wire system (or equivalent), or just really want to rip up your walls to run a c-wire, I would NOT recommend this product.

      Nest thermostats can charge their built-in battery using your system’s heating and cooling wires. But, when your heating and cooling wires are not able to deliver the needed power for your Nest thermostat, you may need to connect a common or C wire.     The customization for temps and the timing is great, and so is being able to control it from anywhere is helpful. Set up was kind of a huge pain…install is easy but getting it connected to the internet was awful.

    I checked to make sure that these thermostats were compatable with my 24V wiring and after installation it did not work with Wi-Fi. Spoke with customer service and they advised the thermostats needed to be connected to a power source. Purchased two and still did not work. After almost an hour with customer service we removed the thermostats and will be returning them. Also these thermostats look like they are white front but they are mirrored.

      Nest Thermostat works with most 24V heating and cooling systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, and heat pumps with either forced air or radiant delivery that has a maximum of 6 wires.
