Great Product!!!

I started making my home more automated and wanted to add this to my system. Wish I hadn't waited. It's a great product that has so many useful features. Love being able to set schedules to bring down my Heat Pump's use and bills. It has done just that and with prices only going up it will continue to pay dividends into the future. No looking back on this purchase.

Nest thermostats connectivity issues could be related to power issues, which may occur when your system wires can't deliver enough power to keep the thermostats charged up. As a result, they start draining the batteries and disconnect from your Wi-Fi. And sometimes, poor Wi-Fi connectivity can also cause the battery to drain faster. Your Nest thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged. If the power to your system is switched off or there’s a blackout, the battery has enough capacity to keep working for a while but will eventually run out. Your thermostat will also turn off features like Wi-Fi to preserve battery life before it must turn off completely.

I have owned other Nest thermostats and have been able to manage them as needed to work for everyone's comfort in the house. These are not that flexible and no matter how you schedule them, they will always go into ECO mode. This has been by far the worst purchase I have made in a while.

Google Nest Smart Thermostat

It worked for 6 months, then stopped working on November 15, 2022 during 30-degree weather. My furnace would not work when this thermostat stopped working. I was without heat for 2 days & nights while waiting for a repair man.

Inaccurate Humility Sensor

I bought 2 of them, one for each of our AC units. The humidity sensors are incorrect and read about 15 percentage points higher than the room actually is. I had an HVAC technician check them to be sure. After troubleshooting with Google for literally 2 hours they finally sent me two replacements. The two they sent are obviously refurbished and have the same problem. Now the screen on one of the replacements has a pixel line at the bottom. I will likely end up replacing these with an ecobee and hopefully those will work better.

No Nest

I turned the cooling on Thursday to cool my home. I was greeted with hot blowing from the vents. I can't get a tech here until Monday. Very disappointed.

Stick with the Nest learning thermostat

I have several at home that work fine with my heating system this one does not get power even with the adapter it did not work. The Nest learning thermostat is a bit more money but works fine right out of the box.

Do Not Buy if you Don't have a C Wire. Period.

There is no way around it. The software will not allow you to add the device to your Google Home account and you can't bypass it. I took a chance and learned the hard way. Very disappointing. Now I have a useless item I cannot return and needed to buy the older E Thermostat instead...

Nest thermostats can charge their built-in battery using your system’s heating and cooling wires. But, when your heating and cooling wires are not able to deliver the needed power for your Nest thermostat, you may need to connect a common or C wire. I needed to patch up the wall where my old thermostat was hooked up. The previous Nest Thermostat I bought came with a wall plate which was perfect. 2. Controls. I had to swipe up and down the side of the thermostat. What if my fingers were greasy? It's kinda annoying. Again, the older Nest Thermostat is better because it has a dial. Easy to change the settings. I could rotate the dial with my forearm if I was a piece of fried chicken. 3. I don't know why but it doesn't work with the Nest app. It says go to Google Home app for installation and control. Installation was easy but the Nest app for me is SUPER USER-FRIENDLY! The thing I liked the most is how easy I can schedule the temperatures during the day/night. Google Home app is freaking confusing! GOOGLE should do something about it. Probably the only thing I like about it is it's very shiny. I can see my reflection whenever I pass by. And oh, BTW, the screen turns up when it senses me coming. That's why I gave it a star. If it weren't for that, I'll give it a negative 1! If I could only return it, I would. Hey I could but I don't want the hassle anymore. I don't want to return things, like my wife and my kids.
