Nest

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seems to work okay, but I have a heat pump so it doesn’t remain consistent and it changes between settings so i Have to manually update it otherwise it gets super hot in my house. It’s easy to use but I don’t like the pre set settings that I am unable to delete. You can only access it with the app as well and not through the nest itself.

If you want to remove a temperature, simply follow the steps below:
- While viewing your Nest thermostat, tap the day of the week that has the temperature you would like to remove.
- Select the temperature you want to remove.
- Tap Delete. The temperature will be removed from the schedule for that day.
If removing the temperature schedule doesn't fix the issue, you may try resetting your Nest thermostat. This will help clear out some or all of your personal settings, such as the temperature schedule that may be having some issue. To reset, go to Settings and then select Factory Reset . Your thermostat will ask you to confirm your choice. Once you’ve confirmed, your thermostat will take a few moments to reset.
We understand that long time Nest users, like you, enjoy viewing their Nest devices from the Nest app. However, we wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant.

While I appreciate the simplicity, it seems to not agree with my HVAC equipment. Ecobee seems to have an easier time negotiating with my equipment than this thermostat

Good when it works

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to purchase this as my previous nest thermostat quit working the coldest day of the year. The one that failed kept showing the temperature going up and wouldn't read the correct temperature. This new one had a bad mount plate (not sure of the correct name) luckily I was able to the previously failed thermostats plate. Also when troubleshooting the failed thermostat I reached out to Google Nest support and they tried to blame my wifi signal for rising mis read temperatures even after I disconnected the wifi from the thermostat. I understand that a failing wifi chip could overheat a device but dont blame the wifi signal that isnt connected to said device for it. They even recomened I replace my router before replacing the thermostat. Bottom line is be cautious with this thermostat the failed one lasted about 3 years. It costs more than some smart thermostats. But like most electronics these days, QA and support seem to be lacking.

I would have appreciated the plastic trim kit in the box, as the thermostats are so small they barely cover up the hole / old paint color. I was able to proceed after I purchased the extra trim kits (more $$) for just the plastic part (there was another metal bracket included but that got tossed). The software setup on the first one was okay, but the 2nd installation just would not work and would not find the 2nd thermostat. I retried the same process a few times to get stuck in the same place - a huge time waster. It took some time of on-line research and forums to see that a large # of other people also had this problem, and Google just had not fixed it for several months. I finally had to uninstall the original thermostat (after it was upgraded) and then was able to reinstall both of them successfully. I was disappointed at how difficult it was to find help and support on this issue, when it was already known. Do better Google.
