However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam with Floodlight:
- Automatic security protections, such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Thermostat and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, set the temperature to 78 degrees.”.
- One account to sign in to both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Your homes, and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Your Nest Thermostat gets power from the wires of your heating and cooling system. If your Nest Thermostat no longer turns on, and if you still have your old standard thermostat, we recommend uninstalling Nest Thermostat and try connecting your old thermostat to see if you will get any power from your system to activate your older thermostat. If your old thermostat doesn't turn on, we suggest contacting your preferred HVAC technician to check your system. However, if your old thermostat powers up, we recommend contacting our support team for help in checking your Nest Thermostat further. When you manually adjust the temperature, the temperature will stick until the next scheduled temperature change. With a temperature preset, you can easily set a specific temperature that you repeatedly use a bit faster than manually adjusting the temperature dial. Besides using ready-made presets like Comfort, Eco, and Sleep, you can create custom presets. This is helpful for other times you might like a specific temperature that’s not included in your thermostat’s existing presets. If you want to set your thermostat on temperature hold to maintain specific temperature for as long as you want, please see the steps below:
- In the Menu view, select Hold temperature.
- Select Current temp or Eco.
- Choose a time. You can scroll up and down to edit the time by half-hour blocks.

If you’re using the Eco preset, you can also choose None to hold the temperature indefinitely until you end the hold. For other presets, your thermostat can hold the temperature for up to 24 hours.
- Select Confirm.

If you want to make changes to the temperature but there’s a hold, the app or thermostat will tell you that you need to end the hold first.

Hi there, Rick. Thanks for letting us know about the issue. We're sorry to hear that your Nest Thermostat is losing power and frequently disconnects from your network.

Heating and cooling systems can degrade over time. When this happens, they start delivering less power to your Nest Thermostat and start draining the battery and disconnect from your Wifi network. In such cases, installing a common (C) wire between your HVAC and Nest Thermostat is required to help fix such issues. You might want to consider the Nest Power Connector since it can be a simpler and less expensive solution, especially if you can install it by yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable installing the Power Connector yourself, you can contact Nest Pro to install the common (C) wire for you.

Your Nest Thermostat gets its power from your HVAC system’s wiring. There are cases where these wires can't deliver enough power to support the Nest thermostat's features, then they start draining the batteries and disconnect from your Wifi network. In such cases, installing a common(C) wire between your HVAC and Nest thermostats can resolve the battery drain problem.
