Your Nest Thermostat gets power from the wires of your heating and cooling system. If your Nest Thermostat no longer turns on, and if you still have your old standard thermostat, we recommend uninstalling Nest Thermostat and try connecting your old thermostat to see if you will get any power from your system to activate your older thermostat. If your old thermostat doesn't turn on, we suggest contacting your preferred HVAC technician to check your system. However, if your old thermostat powers up, we recommend contacting our support team for help in checking your Nest Thermostat further. We designed the thermostats with ease of setup and use, and this is clearly not the kind of user experience we intended to share with you.

Nest Thermostats don’t have a touch screen but a touch bar on the right side. Also, you can control and manage the thermostat settings using the app even when you’re not at home as long as your thermostat and Home app (phone or tablet) are both online.

Hello there, Essn. Thanks for posting your feedback on the Nest Thermostat. We’re sorry to hear that your experience is less than ideal.

Since the Nest Thermostat doesn't have a touch screen, you can use the touch bar on the right side to control your thermostat. Swipe up to raise the temperature, swipe down to lower it, and tap to confirm. The display will show you how many minutes until your desired temperature is reached. Here’s how:
- Tap the touch bar to bring up the menu.
- Swipe up or down to select an option.
- Tap the touch bar again to confirm your selection.

Also, you can control and manage the thermostat settings using the app even when you’re not at home if your thermostat and Home app (phone or tablet) are both online. The thermostat will show offline in the app if it’s not connected to your Wi-Fi, and you won’t be able to manage the thermostat settings using your phone or app. However, you can change the behavior of your Google Nest thermostat in its settings using the thermostat display. You can do things like change the temperature schedule, switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, view technical information, and more. Hi there, we appreciate you for taking the time to share your feedback with us about the Nest Thermostat. We can imagine how difficult it can be if your thermostat stopped working, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this could have caused.

Nest thermostats power issues may occur when your system wires can't deliver enough power to keep the thermostats charged up. As a result, they start draining the batteries and disconnect from your Wi-Fi and sometimes. Poor Wi-Fi connectivity can also cause the battery to drain faster. Your Nest thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged. If the power to your system is switched off or there’s a blackout, the battery has enough capacity to keep working for a while but will eventually run out. Your thermostat will also turn off features like Wi-Fi to preserve battery life before it must turn off completely.
