However, as it turns out, the Nest already included a wall cover plate as well that was large enough to cover the wall gap. I painted the wall plate to match my wall cover and it looks good. I returned the product. The wall plate is needed for very big gaps. Most of the time the included wall cover will do. Pleased overall.

Great trim kit for the Nest Thermostat

It was tricky to install, but not difficult. They recommend hiring a professional, but if you are able to follow instructions, you should be able to install this. Take a picture of your wiring before removing it from the old thermostat. Make sure you know which wire is which before disconnecting them.
