This trim kit did the job of hiding the unpainted area that would have otherwise shown.

It not only helps the thermostat stay in place, but it also covers ugly gaps left behind by your previous thermostat. Atleast in my case, it covered a gap left behind by my old thermostat. Must get. Highly recommend.

I may have unintentionally thrown away some directions, but it was a little difficult to figure out where each screw belonged.

Clean faceplate but juts out of wall

It doesnt go against the wall and juts out at the edge of the oval away from the wall, which is a bad stylistic choice and makes it not flush against the wall.
