Battery operated.

Posted .Hey there, Nola! Thanks for your feedback! The Nest Doorbell (battery) comes with three hours of event history right out of the box, which requires a subscription before. There’s no fee to stream live videos and to receive notifications, but you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to receive advanced features. If you need more than three hours of events history. We offer 2 types of recording for Nest Aware subscriptions: event video recording (30 days), or you’ll get 60 days of events history. Even when wired for continuous charging, this doorbell does not offer 10 days of 24/7 video history with Nest Aware Plus. Without any subscription i can still get alerts of anything, go back and watch moments, and save clips

Google wants to force the google home app with these new products but that's a hard pass for me. The Google Home app is terrible in my opinion. Returning this for a Eufy battery doorbell which comes with a chime and a lot of other features you dont have to pay for like you do with the Nest Aware subscription. Google definitely missed the mark on these new products.

We’re sorry to learn that you had to return your doorbell due to incompatibility with the Nest app and poor battery life. Our teams are working on enabling the ability to setup and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices. We’re also working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices.
