It is very good at sensing activity at the front door, and I can view the activity from my phone, which is helpful when someone isn't home. I'm not that technically savvy, and very happy that it's easy to use.

Got WRONG info on how this doorbell can work

Was at my local Best Buy and that day they actually had a Google representative. Told her what I was looking for, a battery operated upgrade over my original Nest wired doorbell that based on our home transformer, really didn't work well, even after trying different resistors. So now the Google rep tells me I'd get notifications on my Google Hub as well as my phone and if someone would ring the doorbell I could change the ring tone to just about anything I wanted. Sounded like everything I was looking for. Bought it and hooked it up however in it's battery mode of operation it does NOT ring just a beep on my phone. Also it does NOT show a notification on the Google Hub. So obviously the Google rep doesn't even know their own products! I find this unbelievable that they gave me wrong info.

Nest Doorbell (battery) can do visitor announcements on a Google Assistant-enabled speaker or display or the indoor chime. Also, in addition to standard themes or sounds, seasonal doorbell themes are available around some holidays. You can change the theme or set a different chime sound in the app’s doorbell settings, where it automatically goes back after the default tone after the holiday.

I have the wired doorbell, and it is totally a 5 star device. The reason tthe battery operated version is ranked lower, is because of how quickly the battery depletes compared to my previous Ring doorbell. Otherwise it is a solid device with good software.

Helped to identify teenage pranksters in the neighborhood. Without subscription, video is only kept for three hours. There is a dip in quality with night vision mode. Battery lasts 3-4 months with maximum quality.

Looks and Works Well... But NOT on the Nest App!!!

If you intend to add this device to your existing Nest App, IT WILL NOT WORK!!! The door bell works well, installs easily and the vidieo & notification functions are good. However, It will only operate on the Google Home app and will NOT integrate in the existing Nest app. The online forums seem to indicate that Google isn't interested in makin that happen at all. I was seriously dissappointed in having to use two separate apps for my Nest products, but if you are ok using the Google Home app going forward, this device works as advertised.

I'm full invested in Google's ecosystem so it made sense. Love the integration into Google Home. Only thing I would improve is a replaceable battery.

Two way communication and customization of alerts is exactly what I needed. Being able to observe the camera from all the devices makes it that much sweeter. Set up was a breeze as well. One thing, the only way to allow my partner to use it I had to set it with my email and password. Should be able to have family log in options too.
