The zones are very easy to set up, and they work very very well. I don't get alerts from zones I don't want. I have heard some doorbells they jsut use feet from the camera? This actually has zones you can create for the entire field of view. Thanks Google! No subscription needed for this either. (plenty of perks if you do choose though)

This device can run on battery alone, but if you prefer it wired, it can be connected to doorbell system wires delivering 8 - 24 V AC, and at least 10 VA, 50/60Hz. Meanwhile, you might also want to check for the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) that has a voltage requirement of 16 to 24 VAC and a power requirement of 10 to 40 VA. Luckily if you're a Total Tech client with Best Buy, they'll even do the installation for you.

Video is ok for general purpose but you’re not going to see distinguishing details very far away. A major dislike for me would be it doesn’t offer 24hr recording when hardwired. I would recommend for ease of setup and use with the understanding it’s just ok quality and battery version doesn’t offer 24 hr recording when hardwired.

While you may not get continuous recording, you do get the flexibility of choosing if it will be battery operated or wired. Sometimes I will get a notification from the moment the doorbell is rung and other times there is a lag time of two to three minutes. Not acceptable. I feel like the software was rolled out before it was ready. Most of the time its spot on but sometimes it lags. Lagging from notifications And lagging from picking up people coming to the door. Was very easy to install and setup The app is convoluted and needs to be streamlined.

The notification issues you are experiencing may also be related to the connectivity issue with Nest Doorbell (Battery). Here are some steps you might want to try to isolate the connectivity issue further:
- If your Wi-Fi router is dual band (supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands), we suggest connecting your Nest Doorbell (Battery) to the 2.4GHz band to get a more stable Wi-Fi signal.
- Check your Wi-Fi router's DHCP lease time for at least 2 hours. This can help ensure your Nest products stay connected to your network.
- If you have MAC address filtering enabled, the MAC addresses of your Nest camera must be added to the list of authorized devices.
- Try restarting the Nest Doorbell (Battery). Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the doorbell. Press and hold for 5 seconds. Your doorbell will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.

Surprisingly better than expected

I have it wired to my existing doorbell and the process was overall easy. I love that it has seasonal doorbell chimes. It was a big hit during Halloween. My only issue is I wish it had continuous recording. I don't understand why it doesn't record when I view live.
