The nest Google door bell is the best on the market, having a Ring door bell in the UK. I find that the nest works well with my other nest products and is made of quality materials. The door bell is battery with up to four months without a charge. Good quality images with history record and sound. Love it.

We had several break ins in our condo complex. Decided to get a nest doorbell so that I can be notified. Love all the settings this has. What I am amazed is the battery life. According to google, it last 3 months before I need to fully charge it again. That is only 4 times a year of charging! Amazing! Video and sound quality is superb as well!

If you are within Google's Smart Home system, this is a must. It works off a battery so if your home is a new build and does not come with a doorbell this is an easy install. The advertised battery life (about 4-6 months with typical usage) is great. I would say is that it is larger than I expected, likely because it has a hefty battery in it.

Hello there, Xzavier. Thanks for sharing your concerns about the Nest Doorbell (battery). We're sorry to hear that your experience with the device didn't meet your expectations. The battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and doorbell settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events to monitor specific areas. Check this link for more details: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611

As for the battery performance in cold weather, the Nest Doorbell (battery) has an outside operating temperature range of -20°C to 40°C (-4°F to 104°F). Using the device above or below the temperature range can cause performance issues. At temperatures below freezing, the lithium-ion battery in your Google Nest doorbell won’t be able to charge. Many devices, including popular models of doorbell cameras and cell phones, use lithium-ion batteries for their high power and long life, but these batteries are also affected by temperatures below freezing. You need to bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature so the battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises past 32°F (0°C). It will charge faster when it warms up.

Great product, long battery life (about 1 month per charge). Only downsides are you can’t connect it to your Nest Account. This device only connects with your Google Home app. It takes a long time to recharge.

This is convenient for those who don't have a wire accessible for the Nest Hello Doorbell. But this unit is kind of large and clunky. I bought as a gift and cant speak to how well it works. But I love my Hello.

Hi there, JayT. Thanks for your feedback on Nest Doorbell (battery). We appreciate that you like the video quality in addition to its recording feature. We hear your concerns about the doorbell sound.

Although Nest doorbells have sounds that help you know what’s happening (for example, when it restarts), a chime is not included, But when a visitor presses your Nest Doorbell (battery), you can hear an audible alert if you have compatible smart speakers or displays, like Nest Audio or Nest Hub. You can connect a Google speaker or display and set up visitor announcements if you want to get notified when someone rings your doorbell when you’re home. You'll only get visitor announcements on your speakers and displays if they are set up in the same home as your doorbell in the Home app. Or If you choose the optional hard-wired installation, it will work with an existing doorbell chime if you have one.

On the other hand, you can adjust your Nest doorbell audio settings to turn the microphone off or on, change the microphone sensitivity, and set up audio notifications. Visit the links below to learn more about the audio settings:

Hello there, Benny. We appreciate the feedback you shared about the Nest Doorbell (battery). We’re glad that you like its video quality, but we’re sorry to hear that your experience with the setup and connectivity is below your expectations. You may need to check for any range issue or wireless interference that can affect the overall performance of your doorbell. Sometimes the device won’t pass the connection test during setup, and will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away from your router. You may also check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the doorbell and your router as these items could block the connection. Hey there, Siteone. We’re glad that your Nest Doorbell (battery) works well. We hear your concerns about its battery life along with the battery charging behavior during cold weather.

If your doorbell is detecting a lot of activities, adjusting the doorbell settings such as video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas can extend its battery life. This link can help: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611

Many devices, including popular models of doorbell cameras and cell phones, use lithium-ion batteries for their high power and long life, but these batteries are also affected by temperatures below freezing. At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the doorbell will continue to work, but the lithium-ion battery in your Nest doorbell won’t be able to charge. If the battery drains completely, the doorbell will shut down. For wired installation setups with a Nest Cam (battery), the wires power the camera directly. At temperatures below freezing, the battery won’t charge, but as long as the wired power source is available, the camera can operate in temperatures down to -4°F (-20°C). Visit this link to learn more: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/11830989

We look forward to helping you with any questions you may have about the Nest doorbell. For any support concerns that will require our help, please contact our support team via the Google Nest Help Page here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Does not work well in the winter

Having owned this device for about 3 months, I've had a few ups and downs with it. Going into this, I was able to live with the limitations in recording. I was overall pleased with the short clips and ability to set notification zones. However, the the battery life did not matching what was advertised. Living in a relatively busy street, I decided to configure the settings to optimize battery life - this made the battery last about 10-14 days before draining completely. While not terrible, it was still not what I expected, so I decided to hard wire the door bell. This solved all my battery concerns and I was actually content with this product at this point. That is until one winter day, the Nest app informed me my device was low on battery and would stop recording clips. I made sure power was still going to the bell and app also said it was plugged in. This happened about 3 more times over the next couple months, with each occurrence lasting about a day. While the bell could still be rang, it was certainly annoying to know the Nest Doorbell would not be able to notify me of packages, or even worst, if someone stole my packages. TLDR; buy this device if you're okay with charging the device every 2 weeks, or have a wired doorbell line. Do NOT buy this device if you live in an area where winter is cold (for reference, I live in NY).

Hi Henry, thanks for sharing your experience. We regret to hear that you’re having battery/charging issues with your Nest Doorbell (battery).

During extreme temperatures, charging is paused to prevent the battery from getting damaged. If you’ve connected your Nest Doorbell (battery) to your existing doorbell wiring, the wires don’t directly power the doorbell. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the power that comes through the wires, and the doorbell runs off the battery charge. At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the doorbell can continue to work, but the battery will drain because it can’t be charged. If the battery drains completely, the doorbell will shut down, and you’ll need to bring it inside to be charged.
