I like that Google does not require a subscription to Nest Aware to use the product, but without the subscription there are some limitations. The recordings are only available for 3 hours, so if you miss it within that window, you won't have access to the footage. Overall, have no issues.

Your Nest doorbell could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and doorbell settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your doorbell by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Also, if you have to charge the battery more often than you should, you may consider connecting your doorbell to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Doorbell (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. You can also connect your Nest doorbell to the doorbell system wires if you have one. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged.

When you compare it’s ability to reconnect when power goes out or Wi-Fi has to be reset. They both work the same when they do work this one’s less maintenance.

Overall aesthetic is much more contemporary and appealing. I do wish there were more options for mounting at angles both horizontal and vertical. I prefer to have it wired and this requires it be partly on door trim using spacers and/or aftermarket mounts makes it look cheap.

The notifications was poor on device. It missed several notifications and also had long delays in sending the notifications. The cool down period was not good. I went back to ring and very satisfied.

Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
