Posted .Hi there Fb6Dude, we appreciate your insights on Nest Doorbell (Battery). For Nest Doorbell (Battery), battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios:
Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)
We recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Doorbell (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. The device provides you with multiple features that don't require a Nest Aware subscription such as Intelligent motion detection, Animal detection, Person seen alerts and a lot more. Posted .Hi Alleycat, thanks for sharing your feedback to let us know of your concerns with the Nest Doorbell (battery), and we’re glad to hear you like it. Nest Doorbell (battery)’s built-in rechargeable battery provides a convenient, wire-free installation. However, even when wired for continuous charging, it does not offer 10 days of 24/7 video history with Nest Aware Plus.To optimize battery life, it offers event video history and will detect and capture important activity at your door, so you can focus on the details that need your attention. Our goal is to give users more choice. With event video history, we wanted our products to help our customers, like you, to understand what’s going on at home easily and highlight the important activity for you. We still offer 24/7 video history on wired Nest cameras/doorbells with a Nest Aware Plus subscription. We continue to invest in the use of both technologies.

Needs a good wifi connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you don't have a router near the doorbell, I'd look at another product. This needs a strong wifi connection to work well. I struggled with this doorbell for a couple of days until I changed the router it is connected to and now it works consistently and well. Without a good connection, you will struggle to see live video or events so it will basically be worthless. Install and setup were easy and straightforward. You can use battery or wired, I choose battery because of the location I have it mounted. It's rather large. The doorbell uses the Google Home app, not great, but usable. The image from the camera is good and you can get live video in a couple of seconds. It seems to be good a detecting people and packages and works well with the Google Hub.

Posted .Hi CoZy, thanks for contacting us to inform us about the issue. We´re sorry to hear about your confusion with the audible chime for your Nest Doorbell (Battery).
Here are some recommended troubleshooting steps:
- Check the battery charge. The app will send multiple notifications to let you know that your doorbell’s battery charge is running low and that you should charge it. But if you didn’t have a chance to charge it before the battery got too low, simply take it off the backplate and charge it with the included USB-C cable.
- Check chime settings in the app. Your current settings may be preventing the chime from ringing. For example, someone who shares access to your Nest home may have turned the chime off, or changed the chime duration in the app.
- Check Wi-Fi connection. Check that your doorbell isn’t listed as offline in the app. If it is, use the articles linked below to troubleshoot.
- Very hot or cold weather. If it’s extremely hot or cold outside, or if your doorbell is installed in direct sunlight, the chime (and video or Wi-Fi) may turn off automatically to help protect its internal circuitry. The chime will automatically turn on again when your doorbell’s internal temperature returns to its normal operating range.
If none of the steps above work, please consider reaching out to our support team for further help on the issue. Our support channels are always open and you may reach out to us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Terrible Battery Life

Posted .Hi Randrew3, thanks for posting your feedback about your experience with using the Nest Doorbell (Battery), and we’re sorry to hear that the battery needs to recharge every week.
Your Nest doorbell could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and doorbell settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your doorbell by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. This link might be helpful: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
If you have to charge the battery more often than you should, you may consider connecting your doorbell to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Doorbell (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. You can also connect your Nest doorbell to the doorbell system wires if you have one. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged.
We can also check for other reasons why the battery needs to be recharged every week, so we can find a way to help improve your experience. We encourage you to contact us anytime here for further isolation and troubleshooting: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Worthless Nest Doorbell Will Not Connect to App
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received the new Google Nest Doorbell and charged it for 15 hours. I tried multiple times to connect it to the Google Home app, but kept receiving a "Something Went Wrong" message. Google customer help is non-existent. I was directly to a message board where other people had the same problem and there were no solutions. I will try to return it to Best Buy.

Works, but poor video quality
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m not a fan of this doorbell camera, especially when compared to the original nest doorbell cam. The video quality isn’t great and you can’t record 24/7 even with a nest subscription and using wired mode. It does work as expected when detecting people and objects and works pretty well most of the time. I’m also not a fan of using the Google home app instead of the nest app because you have a lot more clicks to get to your video feed.

Posted .Hi MichaelG, we greatly appreciate the feedback you shared about the Nest Doorbell (battery) and we’re sorry to learn your expectations are not met. We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. Our teams are working on enabling the ability to set up and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices, and we’re working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.
The Nest Doorbell (battery), even when wired for continuous charging, does not offer 10 days of 24/7 video history with Nest Aware Plus. But your doorbell should still have event video history which will be deleted on a rolling basis after a certain number of days depending on which Nest Aware subscription that you have.
Also, video quality issues can be related to several factors. If you're experiencing a spotty connection or weak signal, we recommend checking your Wi-Fi network to see if your bandwidth is congested. This may happen if you have too many devices connected on the same bandwidth or if your network package is not enough to handle the data traffic on the network. Removing other connected devices to your Wi-Fi may relieve network congestion. If your camera is mounted too far from your Wi-Fi router, you may need to extend your Wi-Fi network’s range using an extender, boosters or additional Wi-Fi access points.
We're always here to help you improve your experience. If you run into an issue with your Nest Cam and with using it effectively in the Google Home app, please feel free to find us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Posted .Hi Rpatx1, thanks for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the new Nest Doorbell (Battery) didn’t meet your expectations.
The new Nest Doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app.
