My parents recently moved into independent living and didn't have a doorbell on their cottage. This has made their lives so much better being able to know when anyone is at the door. Setup was simple and I was able to get it working on their phone and the little talking devices in the house so that they know when someone's there with or without their phone. Make sure you use a measuring device to get the correct height and play around with the positioning before mounting to make sure you get the optimal position with as few holes as possible. The battery has lasted longer than I imagined without needing to be plugged back in.

My husband and I purchased a Nest doorbell from our local Best Buy in March 2024. We set it up only for the battery to die within 48 hours. We charged it inside (4 hours), only for the same thing to happen again but in less than 24 hours. My husband is an engineer and decided to re-wire our house so that it could be plugged in all the time (this took at least a week of electrical work). It seemed to charge fine and do well for a few days. After that would not hold a charge, even when actively plugged in! We clearly received a defective product. Best Buy claimed since returned it outside of the 2 week return window (2 weeks?!?) we were not eligible for a refund or an exchange. We attempted to return within 30 days. Apparently there's no Google warranty. Buyer beware - return policy is terrible, even for defective products.

Doorbell with great picture quality, only activates recording when people walk in front of it

Overall, I’m very satisfied with this doorbell. My biggest complaint is that you are unable to change the name or password for the Wi-Fi that the doorbell is connected to without doing a factory reset. I would also like it to act as a motion detector for other smart appliances, such as lighting, but this is more of an inconvenience than a real problem.

I have had this doorbell for a little over a year now, and found that cold weather kills the life span. It no longer charges easily. During the winter it only lasts 24hrs, we are charging it daily.....Im going wired! We also have the yard camera (battey), I don't have any issues with that one; which is posted up on the bay window of my house. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE BATTERY DOORBELL IF YOU LIVE WHERE THE WINTER TEMPS ARE UNDER 45 DEGREES!

Good security door bell with no hardware required.

The doorbell has crystal clear pictures and excellent battery life but if you change your router and modem it because a giant paperweight because even after a factory reset it will not connect to the new items.

Seems to work well. Easy to install. Easy to connect.

I bought my Nest Doorbell Camera in 2021. I loved it. Although, you do have to charge it eventually. I felt like the first 2 years it was hold charge great. I had no issues with battery until recently. It wont hold a charge. I went through Best Buy for supprt to see if they could teplace the battery and they basically told me I had it for too long. Since the Manufacture warranty is a year. There is nothing they can do. It's upsetting that it only lasted a fe wyears and now ill have to buy a new one. And Besy Buy or google wont replace it. If you are planning to buy a doorbell camera buy one where the company or manufacymurer guarantees their product. Even after warranty. Maybe im the only one that thi ks something this expensive should be replaced when there is an issue like this.

I received my doorbell several weeks ago. It fits all my needs for an affordable price. I like that I can use it at my rent house and have the option to have it wired as well. I also get three hours of event storage for free, meaning I can check back on recordings from earlier in the day if busy at the moment when they happen.

I’m normally a big fan of Google products and I’ve been happy with most, even if they’re not perfect. This one was really disappointing though. The video quality is pretty poor consider the technology and bandwidth available. Nest Aware is next to useless because you have to manually identify every person, even if they’re already recognized in your photos/other Google services. The wedge helps a little bit isn’t enough to see most of my porch. It hasn’t recognized a single package yet which is one of the main reasons I bought it. The battery option is great and charging is quick and easy but there are plenty of better options out there. For a third gen product, it feels very first gen. The interface is also pretty awful. I’d suggest you look elsewhere. Essentially it just works like a normal doorbell because the features are so inconsistent.

The little circle in the back that pops in and out to latch gets stuck withing around 6 months. First doorbell got it replaced since it was still under warranty but them the 2nd one did the same thing. Warranty only counts from the original purchase so since it been a little over a year since I bought the original one, Google told me I couldn't replace the 2nd one (which had lasted about 6 months too.) If you're not hard wiring it to your original doorbell and will be needing to remove it to charge it, I don't recommend.
