Coming from ring to Google this is definitely a better product. I love how easy it was to setup and integrate with the rest of my Google home products. I really love the quality and look of this doorbell and being able to change given notifications depending on people, packages, etc is a definitely plus and makes it so I don’t get so many notifications. If your looking for a good doorbell this is definitely an awesome choice.

It works however be warned that when the temperatures drop, it will give you a hard time. This is battery operated and we had to charge it every few days, annoying. We hardwired and the battery still gets wonky occasionally. Clarity is great in the Home app and hub. The audio is laggy in the Home app (android is what we have, can't speak for iPhone) but great in the hub. It wasn't expensive and we're not too annoyed by the cons I stated above. We're keeping but will upgrade if a better version comes out. I do stress that this device does not like the cold. If you need something quickly and it's on sale, go for it (utilizing as another cam is an alternative option). But keep an eye out if a newer version comes out.
Hello R3XL, thanks for posting feedback about the Nest Doorbell (battery). We’re glad that you like its clarity in the app and the hub, but we’re sorry to hear you ran into different issues with its performance and features.
At temperatures below freezing, the lithium-ion battery in your Google Nest camera or doorbell won’t be able to charge. Many devices, including popular models of doorbell cameras and cell phones, use lithium-ion batteries for their high power and long life, but these batteries are also affected by temperatures below freezing.
If you’ve connected your Nest Doorbell (battery) to your existing doorbell wiring, the wires don’t directly power the doorbell. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the power that comes through the wires, and the doorbell runs off the battery charge. At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the doorbell can continue to work, but the battery will drain because it can’t be charged. If the battery drains completely, the doorbell will shut down, and you’ll need to bring it inside to be charged. So if the temperature is below 32°F (0°C) and the battery is low, bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature. The battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises past 32°F (0°C). It will charge faster when it warms up.
A range issue or wireless interference can affect the performance of your doorbell. Sometimes it may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away. If you're experiencing a spotty connection or weak signal, we recommend checking your Wi-Fi network to see if your bandwidth is congested. Which may happen if you have too many devices connected on the same bandwidth or if your network package is not enough to handle the data traffic on the network. Removing other connected devices to your Wi-Fi may relieve network congestion. If your doorbell is mounted too far from your Wi-Fi router, you may need to extend your Wi-Fi network’s range using an extender, boosters or additional Wi-Fi access points.

The first time I set this up, it would often disconnect from the internet -- or it would at least send me a notification that it was disconnected. However, after removing it from my "Home" and reconnecting it, I haven't had that recurring issue.
In terms of picture quality, I would say it's very nice for a doorbell camera. The image is clear, and the IR camera in the night time is very effective.
The worst aspects of the camera are probably the battery and the app integration. You just use the Google Home app, which is already a bit clunky. Features and options are very limited once you connect to the doorbell in the app. Battery life is lacking and I would say that you need to recharge it at least once every two weeks.
Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback about your experience with the Nest Doorbell (Battery) and the Google Home app, and we’re sorry to hear that it has not been ideal for you.
We understand that long time Nest users like you enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app and web app. However, our priority with this launch was to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays, and to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant.
Also, your Nest doorbell could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. The battery life can be extended by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas.
If you have to charge the battery more often than you should, you may consider connecting your doorbell to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Doorbell (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. You can also connect your Nest doorbell to the doorbell system wires if you have one. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged.
We can also check for other reasons why the battery needs to be recharged every two weeks, so we can find a way to help improve your experience. We encourage you to contact us anytime here for further isolation and troubleshooting: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Nice replacement for the old battery operated bell and chime. Camera works well and doesn't detect unless there is something going on near. Very easy install and setup with smart home.

Excellent video doorbell. High quality video and easy installation. I love the integration with my smart home setup and the intelligent notifications for various detected activities at my front door. The best option for a renter.

We got the battery version in case the wiring in the house was too old, but it hooked up just fine. The setup was very easy, Google links you to a video and you just go from there. It sends notifications for movement all the way down to the sidewalk. Speak feature works well, and the camera has very good night vision.

(I received a highly discounted product as a Best Buy employee but I have received no other compensation for this review, this review is purely my own opinion)
Title feature is probably the major selling point considering a lot of other doorbells charge for any saved video.
I also was pretty impressed at the package and person detection ,even more so given how its mostly done on device.
Accessing video and speaking to people that rang the door was pretty lag free, unlike a lot of competing doorbells.
The doorbell can also handle a wide range of low voltage wiring, which means if you currently have a wired doorbell you probably wire this guy up to it without replacing the transformer(which I did).
The video quality while reasonable isn't the best though, although the IR mode is pretty serviceable.
Also love the cute seasonal chimes!

Works really weak with my google home account. Super easy to setup and instant feed available. I can see the feed from 1000 of miles away. detects smallest motion to keep me alert. Options to save familiar faces is a plus

I purchased the nest doorbell battery because of the option to wire along with a back-up battery. The images are crisp and the doorbell works as advertised. The only problem I had with the doorbell was installation. I tried to install the doorbell prior to having wifi properly set up in our newly bought house so I tried with mobile wifi. That created an unknown problem in which the doorbell became registered, so when I finally had my wifi in the house set up, the doorbell would not sync. It took me 2 days to figure out how to system reset the doorbell because there was not a lot of information on the internet that matched my problems. Once I factory reset the doorbell I was able to register the nest to my google home account. Thats another minor issue I have, I like many others on the internet have said "I prefer the nest app to the google home app".

Good quality video with sound. Works great with Google home app. I wouldn’t recommend the battery version if the are is high traffic it will deplete the battery faster and needing charged more often. Good purchase overall.

The quality of this device is exceptional and the installation was easy for the battery operatedversion. We tried to hook it up to the existing doorbell and the instructions for that could be a little clearer. Overall I am happy with this device.
