Any product that you claim to easy to install should really be easy to install and then hold good. This thing keeps falling off on strong winds. The latch that is supposed to hold this thing to the back plate is very bad. As to the functionality of the doorbell it does the job well but the app is very bad and not user friendly. It surely is not worth the price and the $6 subscription cost.

Posted .Hi SpeedBird, thanks for sharing a review about the Nest Doorbell (Battery) and it’s unfortunate to hear that it keeps falling off, and that the Google Home app is not user friendly for you.
If you’re using the wedge for a better camera view, make sure to install the wedge then position the baseplate plate over the wedge with the G positioned upright and use the wedge screws to secure it in place. Then attach the doorbell to the baseplate, align the circle at the bottom of the doorbell to the hole at the bottom of the baseplate, and push the doorbell in then down until you feel it click into place. Test the doorbell to make sure it is securely mounted. Please see this help article that includes video installation: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10732535

Easy to install and setup

Easy to setup and install. But not enough information on inside documentation. You need to "Google" it for finding instructions. Battery life looks decent for now.

With the Google battery doorbell all the false alters are gone. I also love identifying individuals by name. Overall very pleased.

I got busy and forgot about it. When it is installed, will update on whether it truly is a 5 star

So far, I'm finding it better than the Ring, even on the free plan. The Ring had so many false alerts, while the Nest does a great job of recognizing people and even packages.

Bright lights can delay or prevent the camera from switching to Night Vision. We suggest installing the wedge to angle your doorbell away from bright lights, or to install the doorbell in a shady spot. You should also make sure that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view, since the doorbell’s infrared light can reflect off a surface.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After experimenting extensively with all the other major cam and doorbell brands (Arlo, Ring). I really wanted to love these new Nest products. Sadly though, the nice hardware is let down by a few bad software features, and one terrible decision. - these new cameras are managed through the Google Home app, not the Nest app. The Home app is horrible and cluttered to use. I really don't understand why Google is moving its product to use this app - importantly, this also, means you cannot view your videos, or manage these devices through a browser - only through the Home app - there is not way to set notification schedules - to get notifications when there is motion during the night, but not during the day, for example. every other product I've tried offers this feature. without it the product is mostly useless as you either get nonstop notifications, or none at all. - there is no easy way to share clips with people - you have to download them to your mobile device then either post them somewhere or share them in a message - super annoying. - this thing is surprisingly massive! check the dimensions before you purchase

The free 3 hours of video history was the main selling point to me (do not want to pay monthly fees), but now like the smart detections feature the best which can tell apart humans, animals, vehicles, packages, etc.

The battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and doorbell/camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas.
